True, but unless they play their kids like against The Red Shoite I can't see it going ahead !!

The FA cup game has as much relevance as the darts going ahead behind closed doors. It's a different competition under different rules.

If Villa have requested the game to be cancelled, it will be cancelled. The PL simply cant risk the PR disaster of a further spead of COVID relating to match even if purely coincidental. It would effectively force the suspension of the PL.

Where the mistake was made was pandering to Man City - that was the opportunity for rule clarity & it wasnt given

If the game goes ahead the question asked would be why is it okay for Villa to have to play an understrength side in the league against us but not Man City?

Of course it isn't particularly fair on us to have a fixture pile up through no fault of own.

Also,as well as Villa having to field a youth side against the RS, because of Klopps moaning about too many games,they didn't have a midweek game this week before they host United on Sunday .

Which is what should have happened to City. If most teams can play by the rules that we all have to then those that don't should pay the price. If they get away with it,it doesn't set a good example.

Not sure why people wouldn't welcome the postponement we benefit from it with Allan and DCL to come back. Any extra room space to give time for our players on a depleted squad is welcomed.

More time for DCL to get over his knock too. Makes last night all the more significant cranking out a superb 3 points

We’re going to have a fixture pile up with our opposition refusing to play games.

We have no Europe, no league cup final weekend postponement , as not due to play Spurs or City in the league that weekend, and two fixtures to rearrange amongst many available blank midweeks for us.

Villa will be easy to fit in, the one against City far more difficult as City are playing virtually twice a week every week when Europe restarts. No real problems for us though as we can manage most weeks.

Their game against Newcastle was postponed because of the outbreak at the Newcastle training ground.

Would be harsh on Villa if they are forced to play the game.

If it goes ahead we, albeit with a weakened side, face Villa who have barely trained and will certainly be missing a handful of players.

If it's off we get all of our players fit by the next fixture and go into a less manic part of the season fully fit and ready to hit the ground running.

That said, we ought to be able to defeat a depleted Villa side without DCL and Allan, so I want the game to go ahead, but I doubt it will do so.

Apparently due today, meeting to discuss it this afternoon, tbh with our next fixture Sheff Wednesday in the cup it doesn't really matter to us about announcement - quite a long gap - just prepare as if going ahead for today and possibly tomorrow

I haven't checked on it but a reliable poster on TEF posted it was so and he's pretty good on this sort of stuff.

If villa keep having games postponed, it will give them an advantage in a way of knowing what they need to do as in how much the win will push them up in games they have in hand [if they win them off course], and then no one knows over the following weeks or months if they will have any more called off-it could be middle of feb very earliest we can get this game played if called off
