Villa Request Everton Postponement

It’s about perspective. We smell the chance to continue a great run against a potentially weakened Villa team with no prep time so the majority of our opinions is gonna be play the game. If the shoe was on the other foot though we would be up in arms but that’s life.

Irrelevant anyway as we won’t be part of the decision making process. The league will want this to go ahead, particularly as Villa will have a pile up. I think if they can field any type of team they will be forced to play. People talking aba our injuries and suspensions but we have the rest of the week to prepare a game plan and train. The fact they can’t until Sat would be a massive advantage even with our missing players. We won’t know the full extent of their issues until the next round of testing is public tho. If they have to play the game and also have a number of key player still out in combination with their lack of prep we would have been given a massive gift

Sure, but if the rearranged games are towards the end of the season then we'll know how many we need from them to move up.

Looking like a draw? We'll know whether to hold out or to go gung ho

Yeah I agree with this - its always better playing later.

That's why its better playing last knowing what you need in cup competitions like the World Cup or the last day in the League and that's why they always make the last game at the same time.

Never going to happen. Would be an absolute PR nightmare for GOV if footballers got vaccinations whilst 1000+ people per day continue to die and small businesses continue to fold due to the pandemic
The difference though is that the clubs would be paying huge sums. And testing is already available to them on a twice weekly basis for payment, putting that industry in a privileged position now anyway.

It'll probably get postponed. Villa probably saw the cup game as a probable loss anyway, another game they'd have to reschedule in along with two more EPL games and it was a cup game which wont affect their league season. They could have postponed that cup game but chose to play.

The issue with the cup was the scheduling of the 4th round this year. Usually it is 3 weeks after round 3 but this time its only a fortnight. With covid issues, its very hard to reschedule inside 2 weeks so they probably felt playing a youth team was better than forfeiting.

Really the FA messed up and if anything, they should be leaving bigger gaps between rounds to avoid things like the farce we saw last Friday.

I get the first part of the season was a bit condensed due to a late start, fair enough.

I dont really know why the second half has been affected, ie the FA Cup, this year scheduling should be as normal (with plenty of gaps for re-arranged games).

Seems a bit odd. No replays for now as well means there will be gaps as well.

Teams shouldn't be allowed to pick and choose,if you have an eleven plus subs play the fixture.

They should need to provide paperwork that confirms they have fewer than 14 players with negative covid results. Then there can be no arguments - either they have enough players to play, or they don't.

This is going to become a big problem for us if our games keep getting postponed and pushed back to the business end of the season.

As it's going, we may be in a fight for fourth and need to pick up points playing 3 games a week in May.

If Fulham can be given 2 days notice for a game then I dont see the issue with villa only having one day on the training pitch.

Although I do have a feeling that these decisions will as always come down to who the Premier league want to benefit from it.
