Villa Request Everton Postponement

They have had plenty of warning and time to icolate.

They even had an extra 24hrs, sorry but play what you have.

We still haven't gotten an answer regarding the City postponement or a fixture set.

Plenty of clubs like Newcastle, Fulham, Tottenham, City etc have been affected and they impact has been slight, we can't afford more and more pileups

They don't have anything at the moment, they might not be able to access their training ground until Sunday

As Sean Dyche said, I don't know why every player and close staff member at PL clubs doesn't get vaccinated. Not free of course. Instead use it as revenue earner for the NHS. Charge them through the nose (say £30-£40,000 per club for 40 staff). Thats £0.8m raised. Could even charge more. Clubs would save on all their Covid testing anyway. Less than £1m cost to ensure the season continues to its conclusion. No brainer.

How would this go over? Not sure about in the UK, but their was murmurs of the NBA trying to jump ahead in the distribution hierarchy and it was going to be a massive PR nightmare.

They had to come out and say they wouldn't. Again, I'm not there, but I couldn't see most of the average people, football fans and not alike, being unsettled with the PL getting preferential treatment.

Never going to happen. Would be an absolute PR nightmare for GOV if footballers got vaccinations whilst 1000+ people per day continue to die and small businesses continue to fold due to the pandemic

I love watching us play and the weekend would be boring without Carlo’s blues.

Realistically though we’d have a much better chance of winning if it was postponed to the end of the month as we’ll have a fully fit squad.

Funnily enough City play Villa mid next week, so that rules out the postponement being just a few days. I had a feeling our City game might be arranged for next Wednesday until I saw that.

Not having to play a league game until Leicester in 15 days most likely leaves us with a fully fit, fresh squad.
Sorry, we have seen these fresh squads before who can barely move after big breaks....nah not buying that

From a Villa POV:

Out "outbreak" was the worst one that a PL squad has dealt with so far. Our entire 25 man squad + those training with the first team all have had to quarantine (reportedly 10-15 positive tests). We've postponed the Spurs game and looks like we want to postpone this as well. Its rumored that we will reopen the training facilities the day before the game is supposed to take place.

Rightly or wrongly, the PL set the precedent when it postponed our match vs Newcastle in early December due to an outbreak in their camp.

the FA cup tie with Liverpool was different in that the FA weren't going to let us postpone I think (and we then decided to make the decision to play what was very much a mixed U18/23 team
