Agree with Mikey here. Virgil is a good player imo. Could develop into a very good PL defender. Is he better than Mori though? I honestly have no idea. Never seen Mori play, were I've seen van Dijk on numorous occasions. Would be one of my first choice CD's for our national team.

Come on, Mikey. This has been done before. He may well be brilliant in the Premier League, but Griffiths, Hooper, Jelavic, Naismith etc. scoring twice as many goals in Scotland as England makes people question the standard of defending in the SPL and rightly so. Why can't you accept that?

No idea if VVD is a better prospect than Mori but I guess at half the price and players in other areas of the squad needed there is little option anyway.

I'd imagine if he was as good as some think he is he would have been picked up earlier.
He also doesn't have to do any real defending for the whole 90, takes a whole different mentality and set of skills to deal with Chelsea running at you for 90 minutes compared to Ross County running at you for 30.

In short he'd be as much of a gamble as Mori

Mostly because I think the player would want the move as well. Stones hasn't made noises so we hold the cards.
