Transfer Rumour Virgil Van Dijk

I've mentioned before mate, that if Koeman is as close to VVD as he's previously mentioned, then the reason we haven't bid will be becsuse VVD has told him he has no interest in coming to Everton.

I'm sure if he had given Koeman any sense of being keen to come to Everton we would have bid but I should imagine out of respect from Koeman he isn't going to bid on a player who he must know isn't interested.

Shame, because at the very least I'd like to drive up the price to make those scruffs have to overpay by another 15-20m

ive been saying the same but I think its more that we cant afford to bid unless we sell a lot of squad players (which we should do anyhow) whose funds have been set aside for Gylfi and Giroud.

Only passing it on, so don't shoot me.

I know a physio at Everton () anyway, he was saying that RK has been in contact with Soton and Van Dijk, Soton would prefer to deal with us although he wants them, Koeman has been selling the Club to Virgil, thing is if we put a bid in and they accept it, it puts Virgil in a sticky position. I reckon there's still a chance.

I know a physio at Everton (little ginger one, although not so ginger now he's balding!) anyway, he was saying that RK has been in contact with Soton and Van Dijk, Soton would prefer to deal with us although he wants them, Koeman has been selling the Club to Virgil, thing is if we put a bid in and they accept it, it puts Virgil in a sticky position. @Mikey_Fitzgerald would put Virgil in a sticky position.

Could be right Zat as I'm sure we don't have a bottomless pit of money to spend. I'm sure though that if quality becomes available Koeman will get his way and we will sign them. Very easy to justify spending 65m on a player if you believe your going to get 5+ great seasons out of him and if you then sold him on past that, you'd probably be looking at the first 100m centre back the way prices are going.

VVD, Gylfi and Giroud and we are talking serious squad depth and quality. I believe we will only be getting one of the three though any more than that would be a pleasant surprise

No chance we are blowing 60m on this fella plus another 70M on a striker and AM.
Well people keep saying our net spend is minus so we could if we sold Barkley and McCarthy for roughly the same price as we would spend on VVD. Unlikely though and a big risk if we are spending money we haven't got in the hope we will sell some players on to cover it. I still think VVD will end up at Chelsea, they have lost Terry, loaned out Zouma and not yet signed a defender, can't see them going into the season without buying one and he would pick them over RS or us anyway seeing as they are champions and who could blame him.

I'm not bothered about Sigurdsson if he plays on that left side of an attacking three as Lookman looks very good there. Also, if Rooney is up front Sandro could take the left slot.

Likewise, if Giroud signs, I guess Rooney right and Sandro left....then Lookman and Dowell have more difficulty in getting games even as a sub.

I know its a squad game etc but id like to see dowell, lookman and dcl get games this season so next year theyre effective rotation options.

VVD is a different kettle of fish. VVD and Keane are giants in comparison with Jags/Williams and the opposition wont fancy a game or even scoring against them especially with Pickford behind.

We don't have any 'immense' area of our team...those 3 together would be immense imo

They signed Rudiger.

I think the barkley, niasse, McCarthy etc money is all earmarked for Sigurdsson and a forward but as Swansea surprised us by asking for more than expected + we cant sell mori because he is injured then we will be lucky to get the Icelander in and a forward.

I think the 3 young lids you have mentioned there, and Kenny for example, will get enough chances to play this season mate.

I think we will have a team for the premier league and a team for the cups, in most scenarios. Which would mostly be ideal.

We have to remember that form, injuries, suspensions etc do happen too. If they take their chance ala Davies then they will stake a claim into the team regardless and hopefully hold down a spot for a while.

I'm imagining Koeman to be doing A LOT of chopping and changing with the front 3 forwards etc also, as he learns which is our best attacking set up etc.

I could even see us having differing set ups between Home and Away games depending on who we are playing, hopefully being beneficial to us as our away form last season was poor.

Finally, given the tremendously difficult start to a season we have in our first 5 games I think the young lads will not all be thrown in at once during this, they will be used more sparingly. We need them riding high on confidence, and one of them taking their chances well should encourage the others.
