Transfer Rumour Virgil Van Dijk

I didn't look at all of them mate. I saw one which was about Carroll and being a legend for scoring the winner in a cup semi final.

James Vaughan scored the winning penalty (the winner) in a cup semi final and nobody regards him a legend. Nor did we pay 35 million for him.

I don't know if you're a blue or not. I don't mind if you are a red, I have a lot of red mates who are great lads and enjoy talking football with them.

However if you are a blue you seem to make a lot of assertions such as the one above that are ridiculous. You have this falsified view of what Evertonians think and seem to try and set the agenda around it. If you genuinely think scoring a winner in a semi final makes you a legend for our club id politely suggest you consult the history books and speak to other fans who would remind you that's not the case.

If you are a red I'd ask you to stop trying to play out Kopite fantasies of the embittered angry Evertonian not interested in winning things. It's incredibly tiring to have to keep correcting you and is an underhand and deliberate attempt to re-write the record book. Saying you don't like Everton, or that Everton haven't won as many leagues as Liverpool is perfectly reasonable and factually accurate. Making out Everton have no achievements in our history beyond winning semi finals and we worship guys who score winners in semi finals is distasteful and innacurate.

Liverpool have a proud history and rightly cherish it and want to keep that alive. Part of that process is also to be honest about other clubs history and achievements.

On a final point, the case that's being built from Liverpool fans about the bitterness of Evertonians at every turn now feels to me to be a case of projection. The more Liverpool fans I meet the more I realise there is an obsession with Everton, and bizarrely in Kopite thinking for some Carroll would be a legend for scoring the winner past Everton. While its not true of Evertonians I do think for a lot of Kopites it would make him a hero.

I can't get my head around it, growing up outside of the city meant there were always about 20-30 reds for every Evertonian I would meet. I sense though for lads in Liverpool it must be enormously disheartening to have less season ticket holders and less match going supporters than your less illustrious rivals. To be the second team in your own city will understandably eat away at you and you see that in attitudes. You see it from Carragher who said winning at Goodison was as good as it got, especially as the rest of his family are Evertonians.
This must be a common experience for scouse reds and I can see how the bitterness comes.

Either way if you're a blue please educate yourself a little before making wild statements. If you're a red welcome but please stop trying to shift the debate away from the factually accurate terrain and attitudes of Evertonians to where you would like it to be.

Surely the thread cant be closed so soon after this leg breaker...shades of McCarthy on Payet (hi to any hammers lurkers!)

Couldn't give a crap mate, just love how people discredit sky sports news as a source and then make a blatant lie up about something they never said.

The same validity to the sources saying that Coutinho has set his heart on a move to Barca and has already agreed personal terms that have said about VVD setting his heart on Liverpool and basically having agreed terms with them a month or so ago mate. Or that are saying Keita has set his heart on Liverpool and agreed terms as well...

Why is one believable to Koppites and the others a blatant lie then?

Especially for a Brazilian lad who has long held the ambition to play for Barca, who has won the square route of absolutely nothing in his time at Liverpool, surely Coutinho wanting Barca is actually more valid and more believable than either Keita or VVd choosing Liverpool above all other clubs?

Anyway, believe you where one of those that constantly banged on about early spending being us spending the Lukaku money prior to it arriving, strange how now it seems that Liverpool buying Salah and bidding for keita now seems very clearly to be them spending the Coutinho and Can money prior to it arriving, and shock horror, both those players (salah and keita) happen to play the same positions as the two players who will be getting sold. :)

I say Poirot, you seem to be onto something :D

Just find it amusing that ANY player they are linked with is either a boyhood red (no matter the evidence supporting that), or has set their heart on a move to Liverpool and no other team mate, meanwhile with there own players they cannot envisage WHY they would want to leave a club that has basically won nothing in ten years of note.

Christ they are the same fans who hero worship effectively tried to force through a move the year before he left - and done an article effectively saying he was a prisoner to them, and then mysteriously the following summer got himself a lengthy ban by biting someone to ensure his value crashed so to facilitate his move to Barca

Bang on mate. The idea that VVD (or any other player) has said he’d only move to them and nowhere else is total fantasy. If Chelsea or City offered him CL footie he’d be there in a flash…. I’d be confident if we offered him a move away from Southampton and doubled his wages he’d move to us too. There is no loyalty in football, no fandom.

Michael Owen, a Boyhood blue, Liverpool wonderkid signs for Manchester United. Lukaku’s dream was to return to Chelsea and fill Drogba’s boots, he had unfinished business he said, he’s been a Chelsea fan all his life he said and it was his team then signs for Manchester United and claims they are the best team with the best fans in the world. None of us believe this stuff, it’s mindless nonsense the clubs dish out when signing a new player. I remember Bony did an interview when City signed him saying it was his dream as a young boy to one day play for Manchester City because yes a boy growing up in Bingerville (I googled it) in the 90’s/early 00’s dream will have been to play for an struggling club playing in the 3rd tier of English football.

I guess there are fairy tales in football sometimes but they are few a far between… Shearer turning down United to go back to Newcastle, maybe even Wayne’s homecoming this season but largely it’s all BS. Bless those pesky reds though they believe it every time…. They lap it up. I seem to remember Joe Cole doing an interview where he said when he signed for them he was given a list of things he had to say like, history, most successful team in history, 5 times, Suarez was innocent, John Aldridge isn’t mental. Stuff like that.

Remember reading an exert from someone's biography, a foreign lad, and he said was told by the PR people to say he was a boyhood Liverpool fan etc when they signed him along with some other 'buz words' that appeal to the cretins.

VERY rarely does any player stay at a team unless it's the top level their ability allows already.
