Oh there's no confidence I just think if Lampard doesn't rate him he'll be gone, on loan at least, if he just needed time then he'll be first choice in pre-season and beyond.
Whilst I agree with the overall sentiment, Mykolenko actually has 15 pace on FM apparently. Have to admit, he hasn't looked all that quick from what I've seen so far though.

To be a "Niasse signing" he would have to have came from nowhere.
Mykolenko has been a highly touted youngster for a couple of seasons now. It's a Moise Kean style signing more than anything. Came in with a good reputation at a young age yet we have no clue what to do with him. And to make it better we did it twice on the same day with Patterson.

If only the club were that ruthless, most of the squad would have gone long ago. They have a real problem moving players on and cutting their losses.
I expect they’ll do a Townsend I.e. get a cheap seasoned campaigner in they think can do a job for a while to try to give Mykolenko more time. He’ll spend most of his time on bench the odd game here and there and then start going out on loan after his second season…repeat until contract expires or we take a low ball offer in the last 12 months of his contract.
I reckon Lampard will help the club be more ruthless. As well as our poor financial state.

I suppose more in the sense that someone at the club has gotten a bit of a fright between what they scouted and what turned up at the club.
Think Kean was a good player just we didn’t have a squad or set up to play to his strengths and he obviously wanted away asap. Like a lot of players in certain formations, styles with certain types of players around them they could be good players - we’ve chucked them together with no thought and result there’s no style or and combination of players that work.

Ah yes, the five year deal/pay rise and some made up award at the club end of season piss up. How could I forget that!!
….no idea how anybody who scouted him has recommended we sign him. This is the bottom line, what homework is undertaken before we invest heavily in a player. It’s not rocket science, I wouldn’t have gone near him after watching 20mins of his debut.
Even if there is a player there who can compete at this level, why sign him in the middle of their winter break?
You need someone who can come in and hit the ground running. I refuse to believe this was the best use of the money or that it was in our best interests to sign him in January. That whole window is looking worse and worse with every game that passes.
