played well yesterday, solid 7/10 performance but before yesterday he hasn't been good. it seems to be more a case of people wanting him to do well rather than he actually was playing well, but because he's from Ukraine gets him a bye ball from criticism if we're honest. If 'acceptable' levels of performance are now the benchmark it shows how far standards have fallen, he needs to be performing like yesterday on a regular basis.

What I have found more prevalent since Moshiri took over is this tendency to write players off almost instantly. Maybe it’s gone hand in hand with us thinking we’re better than we are.

A young player from another league while his country has gone to war and people have written him off.

We definitely used to give players longer to find their feet, especially young players from other leagues. It probably compounds it that people likes Digne so much.

Need to also bear in mind he hasn’t always had much support from the left winger so at times is very exposed.

Let’s get behind the lad and see how he develops.

It’s more so the boots he had to fill. Digne was a massive outlet for us.

Mykolenko isn’t the same type of player. If he just concentrates in clean sheets for now he’ll be doing well

Was a 9 defensively, maybe a 7 going forward

I think that’s a very fair post

Probs because we didn’t have money to replace people back then so fans knew we’d see them for longer.

This + with the amount of times the board have signed total dross, straight away it's here we go again

We're gonna need a lot of patience this next few years, regardless what division we are in

Certainly an element of that, but I think this lad has suffered because of the league he joined from (doubts on the quality), who was perceived to sign him (Benitez, which is debatable as some say Brands was involved), and who he replaced (who was sold / pushed out by Benitez).

As you say, we should get behind him, the kid seems to be showing superb character to get his head down and get up to speed. Which set against the above AND his homelands troubles really is to his credit.

This is absolutely spot on this. It's been bizarre to see how many have written this lad's obituaries already. I can't even imagine trying to work in the same circumstances that Mykolenko is trying to play in, my head would be all over the gaff. I think there's been a marked improvement from him in the last three games and I'm cautiously optimistic that he'll do well for us, seems to have a good attitude that will carry him a long way.

As for the point about Digne, I find it absolutely laughable how big of a fan club he stills seems to have on here. He was very much part of a team that was getting steadily worse for a long time and his performances were going the same way too. His performance for us away at Villa was easily the worst individual performance an Everton player had put in this season (although I think Kenny took that crown at Burnley the other night). He's hardly done a thing in a Villa shirt either.

Yes, he was an excellent player for us in 2018-19, but that's not the player we sold and not the player that people should be comparing Mykolenko against. That player checked out long before the real player actually left.

Eat that you slags. Thought you had another Everton player’s confidence to destroy so you could be first to spot he will never make it lad. While his family sweat on survival you’re not having him, lad, because he hasn’t come to the most competitive league in the world and stepped up immediately in a new country and a team struggling.

Shame on you, bet he hates you more than Russian tanks.

Digne had downed tools a long time ago, glad he's gone. Myko looked liked he'd never played the game the first few times i saw him but he put in a good shift yesterday.
