2022/23 Vitalii Mykolenko

I am in the not convinced category with Mykolenko.

He had some shaky performances once we bought him last year, then he seemed to grow in confidence and improved and pulled out some very good performances.

I just don't think he offers enough going forward and is too Conservative, especially playing as a wing back he should have a bit more of a lincense to take risks going forward. He is solid enough defensively, not spectacular, still alot of improvement needed there. Forest seemed to have some joy with the ball over the top between him amd Tarkowski at the weekend.

Still a young lad so hoping he builds on the potential he has.

It feels like a weird criticism, but I look at him and think he doesn't have the frame for that.

He's built like a centre back to me, not a fullback.

The wingback role is of course basically 'attacking fullback', so I think that's why he's maybe not as comfortable in a back 3.

But having said that, I think he has enough quality to grow into the position. We'll see - he came on so much last season and he could do so again.

Myko is competent in most things he does. At this stage I'll accept competent.

Never going to make it as a LWB , always passes backwards , is slow and is terrified to go forward. Play him as the LCB if Holgate is out and see how he does there

Dozed off at the corner and failed to make the offside trap work. Must do better. Move to LCB and get McNeill or Vinagre to play LWB if we are going to stick to this formation

Seems a really nice kid but really hampering us down that left hand side. There was a
moment in the 2nd half when we were moving forward with the ball and there was acres of space down the left. I remember thinking “where the [Poor language removed] is Myko”. There he was still lurking at left back and our attack had to turn back inside and go the other way. In this system, you rely on your fullbacks to bomb on and create.

I imagine he’d kill it with Gordon ahead of him. We finally get someone that could compliment Digne and he is gone. I like Myko though. Solid footballer with a bit of growing to do but I like a defender that has a bit of technique and he at the very least has that.

I like him but he’s a solid left back…not a left wing back.

If we revert back to a four I think he is what we need.
