His old manager said he was shocked we bought. That was a red flag
Quite a few said it didn’t they - his old manager, national team manager, we had Andrei Kanchelskis’ son who watched him a lot telling us he wasn’t anywhere near the level.

He’s maybe the worst left back, has the least in his all round game, I’ve seen play regularly for the club since the start of the 90’s and I take no pleasure in saying that.

In one on one defensive situations he's decent. Generally speaking he's not bad defensively

With the ball though he's dreadful and the Hibbo comparisons are fair

For me, its symptomatic of the reduction in quality in the squad, the drop in quality from Baines to Digne and now to Mykolenko sums up with state of the squad, he's not premiership quality

Fair comments. But should never have been thrown straight in to the team. He has talent in my opinion and at least has humility and not pretending to be Messi like others.

yeah agree with that, its similar with Patterson and Onana, they need time to bed in yet for all 3 we've put them straight into the starting line up, shows how there is a distinct lack of squad depth

Even defensively I think he's timid. He won't impose himself on the game in the way Godfrey would. Mykolenko will try to stay out the way of things then do his job when there's no other option.

Just a really poor all round player in my opinion. Has such little influence on the game in an era where full backs are so important.

The 3 should be loaned out to decent teams in lower leagues. No benefit having them the rest of this season.

Just an abomination

A principlal reason for our likely relegation.

No chance is he the principal reason. Give your head a wobble.

He's 23, with 28 international caps and extensive European experience, and he cost us £15-20m. Clubs like us can't sign that sort of player and stick them on the bench for a couple of years, they're always going to be signed to start. In his case he simply isn't good enough, it's nothing to do with getting put in too soon.

I thought that at times, he wasn't too bad defensively.

But this season and in recent works he's been as much a liability as anyone in the team. That second goal they scored yesterday was comical on his behalf, his movement and positioning was horrendous, out moved by a 18 year old kid making his full debut.

He's terrible.
