Absolutely criminal - one of the few attacking outlets we had and sold for this. Worst case of cutting nose off to spite face I can remember seeing in football.
Personally I thought Digne had been poor for a while, his good crossing had totally dried up before Benitez even got here, honestly. The failure is replacing him with Mykolenko for an insane fee and then removing every single drop of creativity in the entire team. That's made us remember Digne more fondly because he provided that in spades when he was good.

That same amount of Money could have gotten us Aaron Creswell who would have been better.

Ultimately we replaced one player for another player who was much worse. A monumental act of self harm…that’s it. Regardless of what you thought of Digne.

Agree. Mykolenko's lack of offensive output is making people remember late-stage Digne more fondly than they should. His form had been poor for quite a while before he was sold.

That doesn't justify replacing him with a guy who's just not good enough for this level, but selling Digne in and of itself wasn't that idiotic of a move.
