I'm probably in the minority here, but I thought he had a decent game. Kept Saka quiet for the most part. I don't fully blame him for the goal, he was marking Saka, then Saka drifted central, Henderson made a run into the box which Myko covered, just as Walker ran into space for the goal. Whoever should have been on walker(Mudryk?) is more to blame. How can he be marking all 3 players?

Was voted on BBC as the second most man of the match votes behind Zinchenko.

I think he gets more stick than he deserves. He's not the best, but nor is he the worst we have had. Players like Wilson and Baines were exceptional, very few can be measured by that yardstick. He is slow and tends to drift inside far too much, but I don't think that a 38yr.old veteran is the solution either. At the very least he offers some determination, as shown by some important blocks last night.

I think his best position could be on the left of a back 3, looks solid defensively but offers very little in attack. I'd rather play him at CB than either of Keane or Godfrey.

I think you are right, it would certainly fit with his tendency to drift more centrally. I am not sure whether that is natural tendency or whether he is looking to cover his CBs. If we persist with him as an out and out LB he needs a bit more support in front of him.

….he’s not defensively ‘solid’.
I would agree with this although he did put in some solid defensive efforts in the ‘Lampard survival’ season. I would say he is stronger defending than attacking but does not mean much. His future should be no more than a back up

He's just as defensively 'solid' as any of our current 'defenders'.

…that’s not true. We haven’t got the greatest bunch but he’s not as good defensively as Coleman, Tarkowski or Branthwaite. He’s probably in that group with the rest of them.

He’s just very ordinary in every aspect of his game. Another who’s fortunate to be playing at this level when the financial rewards are so good. He seems a lovely lad.
