Fantastic tackle but yeah let’s just put it down to luck rather than give him credit for it. He gets so much grief in here.

Only reason it went to var in my view was because doucoure came charging in from behind at the same time.

No I’m not putting it down to luck that he made the tackle, obviously. I’m saying that while he did sone excellent defensive work yesterday I wouldn’t necessarily say that was a good example of it. Diving in like he did at that stage of the game wasn’t a great thing to do, the fact he pulled it off is great but it’s not something I’d want to see him doing regularly because it’s asking for trouble really. It doesn’t take away from the fact he did his job well in the main, like I said in the first place.

What a player Saka is though.

Oh yeah no real criticism of him - Saka does that to 9/10 left backs on his day.

Saying he had a good game yesterday is mental though, lucky not to be 3-0 down first half. Pen could have easily gone the other way on another day.

Felt he had a decent game. He's limited going forward. Think we got a bit spoilt for years with Digne and Baines going forward (in better teams) but let's not kid ourselves they were both a bit crap at the actual defensive side of their game.

I don't feel comfortable calling baines crap at defending. He was never particularly good at stopping crosses but he was part of solid moyes team for years and years. He was a fine defender.

Decent enough as backup from next season. Never a starting left back for any team with aspirations of finishing mid-table or above.
