….never been a fan of 3 at the back for a number of reasons;

- It indicates (to me) that any two of your CBs aren’t good enough. If they are good enough, you only need two.
- a back 3 invariably means a back 5. You really need specialist wing backs to make it work.
- it makes life easy for CBs but detracts from a position elsewhere.
- I like successful team models as a blueprint & I don’t see many top teams playing 3 CBs (you’ll probably tell me I’m wrong).

Rather see a back 3 than a flat 4.
If its Benetiz going for Mykolenko you'd think that's where he is heading.
I agree with everything you say about 2CBs but also like the idea of a 3CB-2CM enabling the front 3 and WBs to get into the final 3rd with decent insurance behind them. Especially with Doucs and your man Godfrey in that set up. Its been a long time since this team has been able to throw players forward at will.
