I think many of us thought we would be midtable at worst with Benitez. Pereira is a complete gamble on a mercenary.

I mean, the 6 month contract is a bit stupid. But also, the players down tools, they get relegated. None of them will want that (as managers looking to sign them will have questions about their commitment etc). They won't down tools until they are safe. And if they down tool after that, then makes no difference.

It depends whether you think they down tools in the first place really. I don’t personally, but if you do (like 2 of the people supporting the appointment constantly do) then it is clearly asking for disaster. They’ll keep saying it’s great though, unless he actually does well in which case they’ll find a weird reason to hate him, because they’re just so edgy.

For me this is a truly awful appointment and one which could both relegate us and permanently fracture the relationship between the club and its fans. It’s a very dark day.

Yeah same here so long as he can win us at least 6 or 7 games out of 18 to get us safe. Definitely want a proper DOF installed with the full power to do a thorough rebuild including finding a better Manager when this season is over though. These clowns couldn't organise a prayer session in a convent.
