Sorry mate I have to disagree
The players are a disgrace at times, we have seen them down tools too many times now

I pity this fella coming in, as it is a thankless task
How many players can you remember who looked awful and then suddenly picked up in the last 6 months of their contract? Because I can think of a lot! Mercenaries are like that. The trick is not to fall for it and give them a bug contract based on it!

We're all at each other. The whole "Moshiri has gone against the board" narrative while completely letting the board off the hook for even letting it happen is what's worrying.

They're all complicit.
Look at who the board is: Kenwright, the chugger, Sharp and some mush called Ingles who I have no idea about.

They are a chimp's tea party.

I get we have this narrative about Moshiri being bonkers, but objectively (bullet point time)

- a once / still successful manager (Ancelotti) left and he wanted to replace him with similar - Benitez has managed at a similar level and at a lot of the same clubs, he was available and keen so he was hired
- Benitez predictably caused fan unrest but more importantly to Moshiri, the results were terrible so he was sacked.
- It seems a risk that those currently at the club will get sufficient points on the board.
- Not many good managers are available in January and giving them shorter-term contracts seems sensible (e.g. Moyes first stint at West Ham).
- Perreira has been considered before and is available on a short-term contract. Perhaps Allardyce is also - but the fans got rid of him last time so it would likely happen again.

You might not agree, but it's not insane.

This is getting ridiculous now. It doesn’t matter who gets the job nobody is going to be happy. The club is a shambles and a mess and unfortunately we not going to have a queue of top managers wanting the job . Whoever we get will quite is likely be another person with a pay off when they are sacked after 6 months . We need to accept whoever gets the job and back them !! Rant over .

We don’t know how he’ll do until he gets here.

I’d say Silva was an appointment to try and get the neons between the two? Even Ancelotti, everywhere he’s been he plays the best football he can with the group of players he has, he’s the arch pragmatist, so with Chelsea it was flowing front foot football, similar at Milan, at Madrid it was unbelievable counter attack. At Everton he decided the best way to get results was a deep back five, all the tallest players on the pitch at once, and even occasionally fullbacks on the wing.

I agree that we need a coach who can find the middle ground, but I don’t see players of the ilk of Osman, Pienaar, Arteta, Cahill in this squad. Even a Barry or Barkley, even an old Rooney would probably do. Players who can get on the ball in midfield, get people passing and moving, make some play, build some attacks. Gomes can occasionally do this in a three when he decides to turn up and work. The rest just don’t look comfortable on the ball at all, Doucoure and Allan are good off the ball but not great on it.
Of course we never know how anything will go, but it's not unreasonable to make judgements based on the bloke's career so far, and those judgements aren't going to be favourable.

I agree that Silva was the one appointment that appeared to have a semblance of sense to it. It wasn't a great appointment, but he at least seemed to fit the mould of what we wanted. A bad summer of recruitment scuppered him though and we threw the baby out with the bathwater and brought in managers of a totally different profile, which has contributed to us not having players who are comfortable in the systems we use. It's basics, and yet our board has shown no ability to grasp it.

Has this fella ever actually improved a struggling squad? Any evidence whatsoever that he can come in and get a tune out of us?
