Sadly he is a symbol of Moshiri’s influence on the club now. There wouldn’t have been anywhere near the level of animosity if this guy had been appointed in the summer.

Fans vs Owner is never a comfortable place for a football club to be in.

It's utterly baffling to me tho. If I somehow won a BILLION dollars and wanted to buy a football club, you know what I would do? I'd figure out who would be the best person to run the club because I'm aware that, even tho I am a huge footy person, there are PLENTY of other people in the sport that would know a ton more than I. It's like Moshiri thinks he knows everything so he doesn't let anyone else run the club. Just because you got a couple billion from an association with someone else doesn't make you an expert in a completely different field.

I think the big difference is Tim, most other clubs have pretty much made their decision on who is coming next BEFORE they pull the trigger on the manager they have in place. It's not particularly ethical, but, football isn't any more, not at the top level.

Honestly, if he doesn’t back himself to turn around supporters opinion then he’s not the man for us and is, frankly, a coward.

We may kick up a fuss but we actually gave Benitez a lukewarm round of applause in his first game and never ramped up any complaints about him until we started turning in awful performances, if we don’t start with booing Benitez then we would give anyone a chance!

Also Benitez, for all his many faults in the job, never batted an eyelid at protests and fully backed himself even though he ended up failing monumentally - if Pereira is weaker willed and has a worse CV than Benitez then we’re in biiiiiiig trouble if he gets it

It’s embarrassing. Any class we have had in the past as a club is gone. The board are embarrassing themselves, the players have done for years, and now some of the fans are making a fool out of themselves. Christ even Allardyce didn’t have his name on the wall of Goodison yet a trophy winning manager from abroad gets graffiti before he’s even joined? We are the sick man of the PL and no top manager will touch us now. Embarrassing.

Ask yourself why that particular manager has been selected to lead us and you may find out the source of frustration
