Just to be clear, no PR advisor would ever suggest doing what pereira did today. I know a lot of people think it was the boards idea but if it was it can only have been a direct suggestion from moshiri who is similarly deranged. There’s no way it came from a PR standpoint or from kenwright who for all his faults is very good at PR.

Personally I think it might have just been Pereira’s own call, he seems a bit of a hothead and possibly doesn’t realise the histrionics don’t have the same effect in England as they do in some other countries.

I mean, yeah, if Moshiri wants to give it to him then there's no say

But last night was a clear briefing to take the temperature on his hiring. That backfired. He's gone on sky and he's being roundly mocked by the whole league. At some point, you have to take note.
If it doesn't happen for Pereira here it wont have anything to do with his call to SSN.

Exactly. I've read dozens of posts on here saying that "the club put him up to it"
Tin foil hats all over the shop.

I'm questioning whether Pereira, on his own, has the leverage to phone up SSN and demand airtime - which is what you seem to suggest he has successfully done.

Be very surprised if lampard hasn't caught wind... (i could stop at this point)

.... checked out the interview for himself. He'd be gutted if he lost the job to Periera after that.

Maybe he should ring SSN and put in a counter pitch

I'm going to confess that I am not very Savvy on Vitor at all. I m not even sure why we as a collective fanbase think he is a bad appointment. He has a track record on paper of winning some stuff overseas and getting sacked from some clubs too - sounds like a lot of managers... He sounds a bit of a nutter in those interviews, certainly, the portugese Big Dunc, but thats not a disqualifier. I am sure someone can enlighten me what the issues with him are.
I am surprised some L4 scallies know him well enough to drive a graffiti protest too!
It is not like there are hugely attractive alternatives on the table. Lampard (or for that matter Rooney) or Cannavaro have won nothing as coaches have they? I haven't heard anything about us considering anyone else.
We should remember we are not an attractive proposition so anyone who can keep us in the division would be welcome right now.

Vitor Pereira has confirmed he has been interviewed by Everton over the vacant managerial position and declared: "If they want me, they must call me."

Everton sacked Rafael Benitez earlier in January after a dismal run of one win in 13 league games left them six points above the relegation zone.

That cushion has now been reduced to four points after Everton lost to Aston Villa on Saturday, with Duncan Ferguson having taken interim charge.

A host of names have been linked with the job, though all with vastly different profiles. Former Toffees boss Roberto Martinez, sacked in 2016, was an initial candidate, but the Belgian FA rebuffed Everton's approach.

Fabio Cannavaro is also said to have been interviewed, similarly Frank Lampard. Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, confirmed last Friday that no approach had yet been made to Derby County's administrators.

However, widespread reports on Monday claimed that Pereira was the favoured choice of owner Farhad Moshiri, whose running of the club has come under scrutiny from fans.

Those reports were met with some outcry, with a photo spread via social media on Tuesday showing graffiti at Goodison Park reading: "Pereira out. Lampard in."

With suggestions on Wednesday that Everton were still weighing up options, Pereira – who was dismissed from a second spell in charge of Fenerbahce in December – took the somewhat surprising decision to speak to Sky Sports.

"The club asked me to come for a meeting. I had a few interviews, not just one, with different people at the club, the board. We discussed everything, and I gave them my point of view about the club, the team," Pereira explained.

"I think they were enthusiastic to what I proposed. An intense game, pressing, possession. We need to give confidence to the players, to the team and the fantastic supporters. This is what I proposed to them. What I felt in the meetings was that they were positive."

Asked if he had been informed whether he would be getting the job, Pereira said: "They have other candidates and this is a time for decisions.

"No, [they have not told me]. Just to wait for the decision, be calm, and they are grateful for the interviews, that's all.

"What I want to tell you is that all of my career, I worked under pressure. About the decision? It's something I can't control.

"I built my career with passion, organisation, competence. This is what I can offer to the club. I give 100 per cent of me, football for me is 24 hours. This is my life, my passion.

"I will move forward with my life. If they want me, they must call me. That's all."

In response to the graffiti, Pereira said: "This is the first time in my career that I see this kind of thing. My CV speaks for itself. The club is not in a good position and the supporters have passion, this passion is the power of this club.

"[Critics] don't know me very well, they don’t know my work, know me as a person. I worked in a lot of countries, different clubs, different levels, got several titles.

"I don't take this as a personal attack."

Pereira has won four league titles across spells in charge of Porto, Olympiacos and Shanghai SIPG.
LOL.

Remember when Allardyce did something similar? Or the time the owner of Wigan (Dave Whelan? I think he broke his leg once. Modest fella, didn't like to talk about it, hence I struggle with recalling his name) went on the radio to deride a bid for James McCarthy?

Yeah, great company. Obviously the strategy of the elite.

No I’m suggesting that the press know how to get hold of him and which hotel he’s staying in, and have called him asking him for an interview - which is how 90% of interviews you’ve ever seen come about - and he’s said yes that sounds like a good idea.

This clown has already got me annoyed with him. What sort of unprofessional fool goes and gives details to the media like that?! He'll have us be an even bigger circus then we already are. Ffs man how about you try and conduct your business with a little dignity eh........?

Yet here we are… 9 years on from our initial contact, still making moves on him.

You could argue we equally should be conducting our business with dignity.

I just feel that the sports media literally use Everton for any story. If it’s not talkshite with Jim white it’s sky sports news. Never see it with any other club. They use Everton to their advantage. Always have always will.
