VOTE GREEN !!!!!!!!!!

I would rather saw my arms and legs off with rusty tools than vote Tory or any right wing party.
I have been to vote tonight and have written on the back of the sheet -
'None of you can be trusted with the power that will be afforded you. You are corrupt and abuse your position. I will exercise my democratic right to vote but I will never vote for a corrupt system that allows you to deceive and flourish at the expense of the very people you were elected to serve'.

I was in the little booth thing for ages and got a filthy look from the bloke in there.
Like I care. Politicians are like common thieves and scoundrels who make their own rules, decide their own pay and pensions and if that wasnt enough, they then milk the system.

To think that brave men and women have died to give us a democratic society and these charlatans have made a mockery of their sacrifices. They may as well have pissed on the graves of those who gave their lives for democracy.
Shame on them, shame on them.

Good for you ! I love women who take no sh*t ! My own mother never took anything from me or my brother . I was always scared stiff of her .

I am not voting for a bunch of liars ever again. Voted Labour when Blair got in to replace the Tories yet he turned out more tory than John Major. Vote with your feet and dont use them to walk to the polling station.

No Steevie lad, you MUST go and spoil your voting paper - that demonstrates that you WOULD vote if there was someone worth voting for, that you DO CARE about who is elected and that IT DOES MATTER that people have given their lives so that we can live in a free society.

Not actually going to vote will be blamed a little on apathy, or the weather or the fact that it was sunny, I dunno but WE HAVE TO SHOW these parasites that we will not take this lying down!

Grrrrrr. I really am annoyed about all this expenses business.

Me too, but the problem lies with who can you actually trust in the political world? Me vote could quit easily go to a party, local MP that would not think twice about claiming for expenses. One major question is why have'nt those guilty MP's been investigated by the authorities? If you or i had commited such crimes, our feet would not have touched the ground.

This would be the point where I add a crude joke about bluelass lying down and taking something, but shes clearly angry and I aint doing it, no way, not a chance.

++++++++++++++++BREAKING NEWS++++++++++++++++++++++

James Purnell, Work and Pensions Minister, has just resigned.

Arsed.

Oh, don't be silly, as if i'd ever get cross with you!
You're not a theiving scumbag politician are you?

No, I thought not.

Ho hum, time for bed.

Night all(y)

As bad as New Labour are, Purnell's a disgusting little [Poor language removed]. It'd now be funny as fcuk if Labour accounted well for themselves in these elections, the leadership was shored up, and that snake was forced to go where he belongs - with the Tories.

The problem is the system, not the people in it. As I've said many times, if you give human beings too much power it corrupts them. Exactly why monopolies are bad news in the private sector. Yet each election cycle we grant the elected party a monopoly on a wide range of services, a monopoly that you have to pay for by rule of law incidentely, and somehow expect our politicians not to become bent, like 'public servants' are a breed apart from the rest of us.

By all measures, democracy is better than socialism or dictatorships, but it's time we moved on.

Move on to what? I'm all for the use of "experts" in public life and would like to see the demise of the professional politician, but I just feel that the system we've got is about as good as our pathetic little species can muster.

If you don't want a dictatorship (in all its forms), and you don't want democracy, and you don't want government to have its snout in a wide range services, then there's not much left really.

Even a perfectionist minimalist government need to be democratically elected. Surely?

Power needs to be dispersed so that people have as much control over their own lives as possible. At the moment the government does far too much, has far too much of our money, and that money is guaranteed to them by law. It's little wonder things go wrong. It's not a Labour or Tory thing, all of them are at it. You just need to look back down the years, pretty much every government has sleaze and scandal seeping through it. They know that unless they really overstep the mark as they have done recently that they'll have four years guaranteed at the trough to milk us as they please.

I doubt any of us here would sign a four year contract for other things in our life. Would you get a four year broadband contract? Or for your phone? Utilities? It's so common now in our lives to have that freedom to chop and change if we're not happy. Except in politics where we're stuck with things for soooo long.

Democracies do a reasonable job at providing a stable and safe environment for society, and law and order is something they should probably continue doing, but I can't really see much justification for them doing everything else they do.

Storm in a teacup all this expenses/corruption row. The situation remains the same as it ever was. Aside from some Tory grandee claiming for a clean out of his moat, and the odd one or two 'flipping' of second homes, the majority of these crimes have been to claim for coffees and pencils. If they want to clear out the system they should start by dealing root and branch with the lobbying system and MPs feathering their own nest as 'consultants' (aka pushing some corporations agenda) whilst sitting on the backbenches or even being part of parliamentary committees. But that's not what the Tories (and many Labour and Lib Dems) are after, and it's not the target they've let the British media off the leash to track down and encourage the public to channel their attack against. I'm no fan of New Labour - they're record on delivering on promises of a more equal society leaves a lot to be desired - but what we're seeing now is not right, it's an orchestrated coup against an elected government played out in the media. Fair enough, New Labour have failed. We're moving into dangerous territory, though, in the way they're being ousted from power.

Always good to see a politician go down. Fills me with glee. Do not care which, how or when, just the sooner the better.
