Wales v Ukraine 5pm Sunday 5 June

As a Welshman who has sat through some awful Welsh teams and performances over the years, one which always sticks with me as a true low point was being I sat in a quarter full millennium stadium to watch Wales draw with Armenia only to see England smash Germany 5-1 away a few hours later. We were miles away that day from being a competitive force in football. Today is something I didn’t think I would see, especially after coming so close against Romania all those years ago. My only grip, if I’m allowed one, is the finals are in bloody Qatar and we have England in the group rather than Brazil or Argentina!!

Three things I learned today:

Ukraine were desperately unlucky (to be next to Russia, to miss out..) well defended Wales.. No doubt going to embarrass England in November

It's great to see (both teams) play for 95 minutes and not time waste (well, only the Kopites Nico Williams and Harold Wilson) - it's great to see a team (Ukraine) not waste any time. The way all football should be played - and, with that in mind

Substitution management should be the sole responsibility of the 4th official - players could leave and be replaced without any breaks in play - imagine no more 3 minutes worth of breaks while players walk - yes walk - off the pitch.

I was at that game too, that was possibly one of the most dull matches I have ever witnessed but I remember being at the old arms park with 5k in attendance a few years earlier and thinking we were done as a footballing nation.

The song doesn't actually name Maggie - if it did, the BBC couldn't have broadcast it. The words were "r'hen lady a'i chriw" i. e. "the old lady and her crew". Everybody knew who he meant, though.
The original version did say Maggie and her crew. I remember it as a child growing up on Anglesey. It must have been changed in this latest version. Dafydd Iwan was a Plaid Cymru politician and was happy to vent his hatred of Thatcher. He released another song about Thatcher back in the day.

Happy for my Welsh brother-in-law who was stressing the hell out for the entire 90 lol he's a Cardiff fan who cares more about the national team than his own club ha.
