I was a teacher in Romsey in the late 90’s and Phil Boersma’s son was in my tutor group. He knew that I was an Evertonian and, without me knowing, the family contacted Walter Smith who left two tickets at the box office for me to collect. A lovely gesture from a thoroughly decent man.

Reading the many tributes, Walter was clearly highly respected by all in football as a manager and a gentleman. Nice to read Kevin Campbell 's where he thanks Walter for bringing him to Everton. What a Blue he still is. Sincere Condolences to The Smith Family...May he rest in peace.
