Nice bit of scientific thinking there Frank.surely the velocity of the dive, would send a shock wave through the pool rupturing the sides and henceforth death!

Nice bit of scientific thinking there Frank.
For example :
After having had a bit of a thunk about this, I recon there must be an airlock into the bottom of the pool at the centre. Just how long you'd have to hold your breath on entry is anyone's guess. Plus swimming down to that and holding your breath while the aurlock empties would also be an issue.
Easier, maybe the far side has a lower rampart and steps up to the pool.
I guess if the staircase was hermetically sealed, rose and then opened allowing you to step in, that would work. This was in the guardian yesterday, apparently a spiral staircase rises out the center of the pool, like a kinda Bond villain entrance ...
For example :
@Bungle I never knew you had moved out here to California...
That is some going, they must be destroyed at all costs.
Think ive discovered a wasp nest in the shed in the back yard, loads of the little buggers keep coming and going. Missus thinks im taking that shed down at some point, Missus is utterly deluded if im going anywhere near it.
My sister and her friends once aggravated a nest and they were vicious, stung her everywhere, stuck in her hair, her pockets, up her sleeves. I wouldn't be going anywhere near that nest, I'd probably be looking to move.
