Someone solve this sudoku logically for me please. Obviously trial and error can solve it easily, but there should be a logical reason for deciding and I can't figure out what. Think it must be something to do with the 3 possibilities in the top right.
Top row has to be 5 or 9 so the bottom right square of the large top right square has to be 8 (out of the possible options of 5, 8 or 9). Then it should go from there?
You're correct but I don't understand the reasoning. The nine could go in both the top right and 3-option square? and 5 can fit in all of them.
I saw a youtube vid a while ago on completing these. Looking for patterns was one of the tips. Eg. in the middle row of 3 boxes, the 9 has been in the centre and right column of each 3x3 grid, so it would go in the left column of the last one. This would put a 5 in the bot left square of the top left box, and ergo (concordantly etc etc) a 9 top right of the same box, and a 5 top right top right. It's a bit like cryptic crosswords.
The more you do ,you see trends, and numbers in this example fall into place.

Yeah I've seen a few of their videos. Starting to get the hang of recognising some of the logic patterns.
