I was there in main stand. Bit of a ruckus with the locals and saved by a Geordie working over there. Mad scenes before the game as the trains pulled in.

Ye it was,as you say, inside the ground and when we got off the train, great trip but scary

I was there. How did you travel?

We travelled independently. Train to London then to Harwich for the ferry to hook of holland. Then train to Amsterdam for a couple of days and then train to Rotterdam on day of the game.

I went via the Hull to Rotterdam ferry. (I remember more about the journey than the actual match TBH.) Far too much alcohol was consumed that's for sure.
One thing that I do remember about that day was that my sister also went the game. Despite the fact that she travelled by train with her boyfriend and they had bought there match tickets about a week later than me and my mates bought ours, we ended up sat next to each other in the stand. Unbelievable coincidence.

Train boat train Kev, if I remember correctly the train left Lime Street about midnight to catch the 7’oclockish ferry to Calais and as you say, plenty of ale consumed, one of my most memorable away days
