Can't imagine why the girls aren't lining up to help him resolve his issueJesus weptView attachment 144135
The Vikings settled in North America more than a thousand years ago and 471 days before Columbus yet we don't have a holiday for them. We really need to stop having one for Columbus.
As opposed to all those Canadians speaking Italian? ?They may have discovered it but nobody in Canada is speaking Norwegian or worshipping pagan deities. Columbus was the beginning of Europeans taking over the continent.

And that domination is something to celebrate? (Which was the original point). Must have been pretty rough on the people whose home it was.He was funded by the Spanish, hence Spanish being the language that eventually came to dominate South and Central America along with some of the Caribbean islands.
And to be pedantic Italian wasn’t really a language in and of itself until after unification in the 19th century - he would probably have spoken Ligurian which isn’t exactly the same.

And to be equally pedantic, not sure those Vikings would have spoken Norwegian either ?
To be fair, it's really no skin off my nose if they celebrate Columbus or not so we'll not fall out over it.
Me too ?Oh I absolutely agree mate. Just meant that he’s been the individual who’s celebrated because he was the one who kicked it all off.
Haha I’m sure you’re right! Touché.
Nah I’m not that bothered about it either tbh, was just chatting some waffle on the internet to pass the time.
Err @woodsyni and @Woolverhampton_Blue this convivial disagreement isn’t how these things discussions are meant to play out - where are the offers to meet in Morrison’s car park lol
I despise bonfire night
