Everton v Burnley 1962-3
Wind and heavy rain at Goodison, so the floodlights are on from the start for this game between the top two teams in the First Division. Burnley have a couple of chances before Dennis Stevens gives Everton the lead, scoring with a low shot from 15 yards (1-0). Roy Vernon adds a second after Adam Blacklaw can only parry his initial shot (2-0). They get another through an Alex Young header (not clearly seen) (3-0). Half time. Burnley get one back in the 58th minute - a well taken goal from Jimmy McIlroy, who controls Ray Pointer's pass with his right foot and rifles the ball into the net with his left (3-1). This was his final League goal for Burnley after 13 outstanding years at the club. No further action shown. Final score 3-1 to Everton.
Bit more action than normal.
