31 years ago today. A cracking free kick from Preki infront of the recently demolished Park End, plus a cool finish from Graham Stuart with his first Everton goal give us a vital 2-1 win over relegation rivals Oldham.
Sandwiched between our goals Graeme Sharp equalises for Oldham and later receives the first and only red card of his career at Goodison of all places.
I've watched the whole 97/98 highlights throughout today. Bloody hell I must have been a very VERY stoned 19 year old as I could barely remember half of the games (or maybe I wanted to erase the season from my memory)
Big Dunc with 11 goals and 6 assists, Madar with 6 goals and an assist. What happened to Speed that season as the stats say he only played 17 league games but I can't remember him being injured. Funny seeing the likes of Phelan, Tiler, Ward, Okane, Thomas, Thomsen getting plenty of games which shows you the kip of the squad.

For some reason I thought he was sold in the summer of 98.
I used to go the vast majority of home and away games in the 90s, and I watched the highlights of that season and could remember about 5 games

I watched Madars debut (v spurs?) where he scored? in the black horse on county road. Way before the smoking ban was introduced. What a hellhole that place was.

Madar did score on his debut but it was in a 3-1 win at Palace. Dunc and Barmby the other scorers.
Think he scored away at Palace first (3-1 win), his goal against Spurs was a 2-2 draw
I remember his goal against West Ham away and for some reason he gave both middle fingers to our fans, then a weird wave

Cheers, my memory gets ever worse.
Don't worry mate, I have no recollection of any Madar performance apart from his goals, his sitter away at the rs and him giving the Everton fans the middle fingers against West Ham away.
My scrambled memory says I liked him, but I can't remember one performance of his where.i could say "oh he was great that day"
I'm going to watch the 98/99 season tomorrow to see if my memories are just as vague as they were for the 97/98 season.
