"Watch Classic Matches Again"

Thanks mate for posting this game, have looked for this video before. Poignant game for me as it was my first immediately after my old man had passed away. ;)

Yep things which are more important than football inextricably link themselves back to football don't they mate?,I remember being gutted when my dear old Grandad(a red) died back in 1978,we played Wimbledon in the league cup a couple of days later and I didn't go,it was too soon,Liverpool played at second division Sheffield Utd,the results?we won 8-0,they lost 1-0,and all I could think was if my grandad had lasted another week the stick I could have given him:)

Sorry mate but that made me laugh, with respect to your Granddad you are exactly right though.

The only problem is if we had a young blues players who made the grade would we be able to keep them that long - even in the days of Alan Ball the Catt said he would only sell him for a million { a massive fee in those days!} then sold him for a paltry £220, 000 to Arsenal when the player never wanted to leave!
What would be the value of Ball Harvey , and Kendall today ? and would we keep them as we have had such a fight holding onto one promising player?
The selling fee was a lot of money then. Previous record iirc was the £110,000 we paid to get him. Still a bad deal though. We were mad to sell him. A little bit of my love for Catterick died that day. He was the manager who put together the best I ever saw but he was also the manager who sold Alan Ball. Sigh.

HC had stated he was a million pound player only two, months before he sold Ball!

I remember a fine game not so long ago turning you over in the cold at Goodison. We were the better team.
But I also remember Carsley and Vaughan a few years before that
We will call it quits.

Sorry if this match has been posted before , But my hero score a goal the newspapers at the time raved about - you have to laugh at the state of the pitch and the Leeds fans chanting animals at us - even Morrissey has to limp off!
the great goal is about 12 mins in!

just look at the crowd control at this fixture My late father and Uncles and his mates were there notice Sandy Brown kept us in it with a clearance of the line!

My late Dad was delirious when he came back from this one!! Although that was nothing compared with seeing him on the morning of the 15th May!! So many visits to Wembley in the modern era make it easy to forget it had been 33 years for that generation as far as the Cup was concerned when for many it was the more glamorous competition! Almost like the Champions league for excitement to those guys.

Yes as a young Kid - seeing a full 90 minutes on the TV was so special the match build up on both channels started so early on in the day a very special occasion, totally devalued now imo - When we won My late Father pointed out the FA Cup was nice to win , but it meant we were not the best team in the land he explained winning the league was harder to do as it was in those days consistency over then 42 games, still nice though to think my older Brother and our relations in London seen it live!
