I remember going home after that and telling my dad how great the Norwich striker was but I wasn't on about Ekoku it was Sutton who impressed me. Just a kid at the time.

I got chatting to ex Newcastle and Northern Ireland player Tommy Cassidy after an Everton game up there a couple of years ago and I mentioned this game to him,he even remembered his goal,reckoned George Wood more or less threw the ball straight out to him,and he lobbed it back over his head! I was only 8 at the time,but I do remember being at the game,I do seem to remember,as mentioned above, that it had been in the news that MacLeod was coming to watch George Wood(had Scotland just qualified for the 78 world cup around that time,beating Wales at Anfield?)and he had a terrible afternoon.
