Martinez is a complete joke, to have this current squad below absolute horseshit like West Brom and Swansea is totally unacceptable.
If we want anything resembling a chance in the semis he should be sacked on Monday, get Big Dunc in whatever. We need something anything to jolt these players into life.

Can't fault those words...

Martinez is a disgrace. Chance of being 6th bottom Wednesday. Even dreaming of winning the FA cup should not save him. Making Baines apologise for stating facts is beyond a joke

Look lad, we've had years of the 6th place trophy and it was determined that it didn't matter if you finished 6th or 15th.

Embrace it.

Not one person using that argument believes it themselves. It's just a very weak, transparent, trying to be clever way of excusing being crap. It's a crap agenda tactic tantamount to Martinez' management skill set.

Doesn't that conveniently ignore the fact that two seasons ago Coleman, Jags and Baines made up 3/4 of one of the tightest defences in the league, and had done for at least a couple of years, with the likes of Osman and Neville sat in front of them as the DMs AND with Baines and Coleman attacking more than they do now? Why yes, yes it does.

If the three of them are now awful defenders is that because:
a) Distin was in fact the lynchpin of our defence; or
b) Martinez, who couldn't coach Wigan to defend in any way, cannot coach our players how to defend in any way?

You pro-Martinez types are absolutely bonkers.

Could be that age and injuries have taken there toll and even a few seasons ago I did not think they were great at defending although great at attacking. Distin was the only one out of them all that could actually head the ball and had the speed to recover and sweep up until age also caught up. I didn't say they were awful defenders either I just think they are average defenders that have an attacking quality. Jags I rate as a defender but his glaring weakness is dealing with crosses or headed challenges. I also think that the midfield does not offer good enough protection for them. Martinez will be at fault also with set piece positioning and telling the defence to defend the box which basically allows the opposition to cross at will and have plenty of possession just in front of the defence giving them more opportunity to create chances. I still stand by my word re: defensive qualities of our full backs.

Or even a throw in ???easier to thump it into the stands to wastes injury time????
That back pass would not be seen in the lower leagues!

I seen plenty like it but besides the point. It's a corner, not a penalty. They could have done the same thing from a long throw in.

I'd still prefer them over United, our games against west ham have been open affairs. United have nullified us into submission twice we haven't asked them one question in football terms over two games.
This the way I see it too. West Ham might be scary in what it could be scoreline wise. Man Utd have beaten us twice this season. We haven't scored against them. They have the edge on us this season. I know its the FA Cup and anything can happen but if they scored first against us I'd worry. With West Ham I'd feel we could still get at them.
