How can we attract elite players when we've got Rooney clowning around in the midfield? For the team to improve he needs to move on.

I agree, but having somebody with his record and reputation at the club would surely attract players who would want to be involved with or learn from him. Lets not forget that players in their mid 20's would have grown up idolising him

Yep. There is something wrong at the club that runs deeper than we know.

Ross Barkley left under a dark cloud whether it was to do with his personal life, Koeman (who had already gone) or he could see a lack of direction at the club, it was deemed impossible for the lad who adored this club and just wanted to play for Everton. There is more to it than we think.

Rooney came back last year reinvigorated. He is not the type of player to walk away from a challenge. He came here to prove himself and there is no way a winner like him would give up after one season. There is a more concerning underlying reason which runs deep at the club.

Something not good at Everton right now. Its not the place players we have want to be at.

..and it’s not the place we want many of them to be at also.

Laughable 11 months ago things seemed great didn’t they? Wayne’s back ... that press conference and give the club a lift. Signings followed it all seemed ready to fall into place ... 11 months on the wheels have well and truely come off when Wayne’s legging it and fat sam still at the club.

Ross Barkley wouldn't know which direction a bus was going if it was coming straight at him.

I was listening to a radio football show this morning (in the US) and every caller was against Rooney coming to DC. Comments like he's too old, too slow, boring to watch and.. "He's no Ibrahimović".

If the deciding factor is Wayne Rooney then we aren't selling the club well enough. I get what you mean about the reputation he has in the game but we can't carry him. He's not good enough.

..no doubt, but the root cause is the transfer policy. Things won’t improve until we get the right manager/DoF combination and the right playing strategy.
"A" player strategy would do for starters Eggs. Obviously wed prefer it to fit a playing style that pleases the fans, but any strategy is preferable to none.

The other problem with this move is that DC would be doing it for all the wrong reasons. They are a terrible side and dropping him in the team won’t magically make their crap players any better. Not to mention he isn’t exactly what you would consider a mentor.
