Not sure if this is for the Everton forum or not, but given his current form, that has by all accounts been going on for the last 12 months, would you spend our transfer budget to bring him back to Goodison next summer?

He will be 30 by then, still a good 3 years of service.

Wow, this really does have the feel of an early hours nothing thread. I'm guessing our summer budget will be 20 million, so no chance of buying him... But stranger things have happened.

It would go against everything Roberto is trying to do with the club and the youth... so no

I totally agree. But Rooney seems to be stuck in a trench over there. Some passion for the shirt he plays for surely could see him shift his form.

Wayne Rooney earns £300,000 a week playing for Man Utd.

For him to play for Everton, and for Everton not to smash their fairly rigid wage structure for him and probably cause problems within the squad, Rooney would have to take a 73% wage cut to have parity with Everton's best paid player, reportedly Leighton Baines who earns £80,000 a week.

Personally, I cannot see him doing that, no matter how much he 'loves the club' (supposedly).

the difference watching him pay for us over the summer and united this season is striking, but it just isn't worth it in my opinion.

He looked well up for it and direct in his play. Actually, like he was when he first played for us.

The fact he won't join us for 4 million a year, if indeed that is what Baines is on, is another example of money ruining the game.

What a sad state of affairs. Most Evertonians now don't care about him and most think he is gash. He made a load of money at United, and won loads of pots, but what a disaster for Everton he didn't stay in the first place.

I feel like this question has been done to death amongst Evertonians.

I'd have him back, but it ain't ever happening.
We did, around about Duncan's testimonial.

And yes I'd have him back, but it ain't happening. As I said above, his wages would not allow it.

Point taken.

Oldham fans tortured themselves for years speculating if Paul Scholes would ever play for them at the end of his career.

Erm, he didn't like.
