Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

Rooney won't be playing at the top level in England at anything close to 34 years of age mate,

I think he will do, maybe more squad player at United than superstar of course.
Also worth mentioning that my grandad used to speak to members of waynes family, from what he heard Colleen and Wayne are still 'home birds' and wouldn't consider moving out of England. Now of course they have grown into adults so maybe America or Spain would sound good, I think China may just be too far for them.

But.....

For £500k a week I think he may be tempted :D

More chance of my dog walking on the moon than rooney moving out of britain mate.

yeah they are both supposed to be close to their family (her especially so), dpeneds if he wants to finish his career at a club where a large part of there fans will never accept him as one of theres i guess, doesnt move to here this january then he never will do (and overall not that bothered anymore myself)

...not so sure. 3 years of your life in China when you have young children and more than enough money might not be that tempting.
Pf, China is a great place and living in a mansion and sending your children to the best private school in the country in return for 120m over 3 years isn't too bad a deal, I shouldn't think! You know these rich people... they can never have too much money.

I'll be very much surprised if he goes, even for silly money.

People are writing it off completely though, tending to forget this is Wayne Rooney we're talking about who has shown himself to be solely motivated by money and nothing else. He's twice handed in an official transfer request at United to gain a pay rise, and people think he's been loyal to them. If anyone had bettered his contract offer at United he'd have been out the door quicker than his plastic hair grew back. His contract there runs for another 2 years anyway so unless a goliath offer comes in from China he's going to see that out.

When he handed in transfer requests, were there any genuine suitors or was he just chancing his arm? I doubt he'd have left England then, and doubt he will now.

I think the first time (2010) there were strong rumours about City wanting him and him trying to force a move, which is why United fans hated him and even booed him when he first came back. The second time Mourinho publicly stated he wanted him at Chelsea and it was just after Moyes had joined United. So not exactly China, but the point still stands in that he's been motivated by money his whole life. He's got no desire to return to Everton.

for me Rooney would have been the ideal big statement signing either last summer or this window, more than anything to show the rest of the footballing world we're not Bills penny pinchers any more but we mean business. Not gonning happen now and it's probably for the best. Whilst the Rooney brand would have instantly upped our media presence and it would have made for fairy-tale headlines *the prodigal son returns* and all that bull, he isn't the player he was and we should be looking for better, younger players to take us forward.
If he has any sense, he'll finish this season at United and then take the biggest contract he can find in either the States or China where his rapid decline will be away from the British press.
