Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

Mates, be careful what you wish for you might get it.

Is Wayne Rooney a Blue deep down? Yes.

Was he a dominant force in this league for a good decade at least? Yes.

However, his skills have declined dramatically. His body type combined with, his rumoured and sometimes documented drinking to excess combined with rumoured smoking and his high numbers of matches played will work against him.

I think Wayne was an amazing player, and a force, sure, in his time. However, some of you hoping we lock him up for four years are losing the plot. He won't come cheap and his skills are in decline. In 2 years the £ locked up with Wayne might buy us 1-2 class players that actually play and play well not just "provide leadership and inspiration".

Again, I say this as a Blue and Wayne fan. If we sign him, imo it should be on one year contracts, at a time.

All right then, let loose the hue and cry.

Wayne's is the only player who could be described as World Class who would join us without us being in the CL or even Europe in general. Most would demand a club regularly in the last 16 if the CL.
Wayne would get us Europe, that would help bring the better players

..I'm a Rooney fan but to say he's world class now is stretching it a bit. It's an overused phrase and should only define footballers who can walk into any team on the planet.

I admire Wayne Rooney far his largely well improved conduct off the pitch and also volume of largely undocumented charity work. It's also notable that for England and Man Utd he also seems to be a popular figure - which must say what he's like to be around in training and on the pitch for his team mates.

Is he a 'force' any more, obviously less so - but he has a range of passing and will take pressure from other players. I love Everton, am a WOOL admittedly but love coming up to Liverpool and getting amongst it. It's a unique city and he's part of it. I think the genuine affection he'd get from fans will rejuvenate him to an extent and also have a beneficial effect on the squad. Imagine the first time he smacks in a goal after a return here. The place will go apesH1T!

Hopefully we'll be already in Europe if he signs in the summer or not.
We're reliant on others like.

I think the ultimate question is, would he improve our current team?

If yes then sign him up. If no, then swerve.
I'm with you on this, start of the season I would have been made up to get him but I don't think he does improve our team now. I know he's not played a great deal recently but he seems to have lost something, which I guess is why he's not playing regularly at Utd.
What sort of wage would he demand as well?
I'd be happy to swerve and use the money saved in his wages to buy players who are up and coming/in their peak.

@orly mate, your finger seems to have slipped resulting in you Liking one of my posts by accident (see above).
You might want to redo it as a K'off for the sake of completeness.

You're welcome, happy to help.

Martino

I agreed with the post so I liked it Spurty. I think Wayne will be a great signing

This passive aggressive moaning about rep is a bit off topic

...it's a fair point but there might also be a political aspect to his acquisition. Signing Rooney would raise the club's profile as we look for increased sponsorship, ground moves etc. I honestly think this could be a key consideration for Moshiri. From a playing perspective he would enhance the squad but I very much doubt he'd be a starter week in week out, especially if we sign a few players in the summer.
