Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

Absolutely.

Valencia won't be here next season, very possibly the same for Belgian Super Kev, Lookman still needs another couple of seasons before he will be really consistent.

So we will have three in midfield of Gana / Schneiderlin / Davies and a forward line of Rooney / Lukaku / Barkley

Hands in the pants stuff

Valencia will be back. Everton will offload Niasse to Hull, Kone will be cut loose, Calvert-Lewin is too green to be the second striker. Mirallas could be jibbed off for the right offer but I don't think Koeman will be shopping Mirallas. Lookman is a work in progress - could use a full season with the U-23's.

Even if you are right, Everton are better off dipping into the transfer market and finding someone who can actually run for 90 minutes. If Rooney wants to take a massive pay cut to be a squad player, all good. It is delusional to think Rooney would have his name carved into the granite squad sheet.

Nah - he saw how well MLS worked out for Gerrard. No need to go embarrass himself for a year then go to Everton to work on his coaching badges, etc... Better off going to China for 2 years, make 20M then come on back to Finch Farm.

MLS would happily pay more than 1/2 of his salary to get him on loan.

If this happens it will demonstrate that nothing has changed at the club. I can just about stomach this guy coming in as a last minute panic loan but when we've had a year to find players if we end up with Enner Valencia, a very limited player, then we can't hope to challenge for the CL spots.

He wouldn't go to West Ham - too big a step down for him - he is facing up to the fact that happens to all players, time catches up with them.

Losing the England spot, playing second fiddle at United, having every pundit comment on his situation. It'd hurt and he can't answer back on the pitch to prove any critic wrong.

My biggest fear is that a deal is engineered that involves Rom one way and Rooney the other, plus cash. The two situations need to be managed to a separate and individual conclusion.

For Rooney I reckon he'll see out his contract at United if he won't make the World Cup squad - simply don't see him adjusting to China - perhaps MLS is viable if not United or Everton. Time will tell.
