Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

The biggest concern I have is not with the playing side, tbh, it's with the shadow he'll cast over the rest of the team.

He is a global superstar. Not a superstar player for a long time, but a super star in terms of image. We are in the media's eyes from this point forward now Rooney FC.

Not that he has an ego that he needs stroking or anything, he's very collegiate by nature. But I have a lot of reservations over how team-mates handle this type of immediate downgrading in their own importance. You need players who feel they can be leaders of the team. With Rooney in there it's impossible.

We'll see. For now, and on balance, it's a welcome development.

We've not had that in the team since the 80's.

We've had a side filled with either happy to be here, not here for long, or bigger than the club type players that plateau at any sniff of success.

Not for one second do I think Rooney's come here to earn an easy pay cheque. I bet you he's wanted to come back to try and win something in a blue shirt after pretty much doing everything you can as a player bar win a World Cup/Euros.

It should be a massive shift in culture and mentality.

5 League Titles, 1 Champions League, 1 FA Cup, 3 League Cups. All time top goalscorer at Man United and England.

He bags a trophy with us, he'll retire straight away.

Wait until RK get's a pre season into him and you will realize

Bentley's don't loosen up until 200,000 miles. still being run in, like our wazza, just coming to his pomp.
I hope so. As I've said 100's of times Koeman/Walsh have forgotten more than I'll ever know, so who the F am I to judge?

I'll support him once here.

Big gamble this.

It's hard to make a case for a new start when we go back 13 years.

Never wanted him to leave; always supported him against the haters; but I have to say - whilst welcoming him back - that he might prove to be a little used player but have a big distracting effect on the team.
Think it's a case of suck it and see Dave.We all have our own opinions, however none of us really know how this is going to pan out.One thing for sure is... it's going to be exciting and interesting at the same time.

I think Wayne has a big chip on his shoulder and wants to prove his doubters wrong that he's past it. He wants to do right by his boyhood club. Just like LeBron sacked up and came back to Cleveland to get them a championship, so too will our shrek-like talisman. He will do whatever it takes to win silverware here.

That's the idea no doubt. But this is a 31 year old with a lot of mileage in him. I dont think he'll be a fixture in the team that often, tbh. He fell off the cliff form wise at United and it wasn't all down to being jaded in terms of motivation or injury. His body is just fatigued with it all.

We'll see.

Funny if after all the problems getting this deal across the line he fails his MOT Ian,. Like you mate when he pulls on the shirt he get's my support 100%

He left the club when his head ruled his heart and made the right move 100%. Now his heart has taken over, he does have unfinished business here and unlike before when he was 17 we actually have a team that is commensurate with his talent.

I think it speaks volumes that he wanted to come here, take a pay cut, etc, rather than go for silly money in China or the US. I know some say it's all about playing the World Cup, but no player, no matter how big his ego, wants to play on the biggest stage and fail. He believes he has something in the tank, and wants to give it to us. He knows he won't be first on the teamsheet, but he also knows he can help us win.

The hope with this signing is that it ignites something in him and we get two good seasons from him. I think that's still possible. I can understand the trepidation but I think it's worth rolling the dice to see how this pans out.

That's all any of us can do mate.

And there's nothing wrong with having an opinion. We don't have to like or approve of every player we sign. But once they're in the shirt we all want them to be bloody brilliant.
