Because he used to be a great player. Unfortunately some people, including Koeman, are too stupid to understand the concept of past and present. Because if they did, they'd realise the present day Rooney is a giant turd of a player.

People said this for AGES, that bringing him back would be purely sentimental and wouldn't actually benefit us on the pitch. Yet so many others got weepy because "the boy" came home. F off, I hate a certain section of our fanbase sometimes. The same type of people who clap Kenwright, want Unsworth and Ferguson as our management team and hate a world class player because he doesn't snarl or chase after every ball. This is the type of Everton you lot deserve.
