He's easily our most technically gifted player. I said last summer that CM was his position when he played there for England.

Hopefully he's getting his head back in the game, because some of his loose passing recently has been baffling. Not like him at all.

He was excellent tonight.

Obviously it has been a tough six months for him. Hopefully he is through that now, his personal issues are addressed and we will see a run of performances on a par with tonight. Bravo Wayne.

8 goals in 16 this season, 7 in 12 starts in the league. And apparently he wasn't worth getting on a free :s That's what i want from a captain. jagielka has been a great servant but never led in that sort of way for me. Obviously i don't mean in a goalscoring way because he's a centre back.

Tomorrow marks 2 years since my father passed away. I was against Rooney coming back as it opened up old wounds, but tonight he put the biggest smile on the face of me and my brother during what will always be a difficult few days.

I knew he'd be proper up for this being given the captains arm band and man, did he prove prove it.

Fire in his belly, in the referee's face, getting the best out of his team mates and taking his "chances" (the half way line goal was barely a chance) when they fell to him.

Excellent performance, hope there is more of the same to follow.

tried too many cross field balls that were not on.
