Except he doesn't admit to it. Ever. Even though it's unbelievably blatant.

True but it's hard to be honest with people when you can't be honest with yourself. He's been in the spin machine for so long that I'm sure he makes up lies even to himself to make him feel better.

Fair enough. That doesn't make him less of a tool though.

He's just a very, very stupid man who happens to be good at football.

He left to further his career and win things...don't begrudge him leaving, well over it.

Can even forgive the once a blue stuff as he only 17 playing for his boyhood club.

BUT...Badge kissing I ain't having. Sure he's an evertonian just like rush, fowler, Owen, mcmanaman etc are...far removed from the club in my eyes

he's a massive wind up merchant anyway (check his antics towards the rs when united won the league) so I don't really give too much time to what he says

Apparently, my opinion of Tooney differs from the vast majority here.

I can't really say I was an Everton supporter back when he played here ... I wasn't into football at all and I did not care very much. The badge-kissing I saw on youtube and yes, that's nasty. To his defence, I have to admit that the Everton fans taunted him quite a bit and knowing quite well how a 23-year-old might feel, this I see as one of his moments where he does something impulsive without thinking. It would not have been the first time for him.

I don't think it's right to blame an uprising youngster for being ambitious. He wanted to develop and he's become one of the best players in the PL, for England and I'd definitely count him into the top 10 players of the world. I am not sure he would have achieved this, staying at Everton. Plus, Everton got quite some big bucks for him. Would I want Rooney back? Sure. What team can say no to a world class player?

He's not a player that's in my heart because there is only Everton. But then again, I found myself enjoying his goal in the CL final because I thought "look at that kid, he grew up with the club I love".

I'm still waiting for the day when he rejoins Everton as an old man, come on against Liverpool in his last professional game scores the winner that will bring the Premier League trophy to Goodison.

I can dream, can't I?

Haha quality :)

He's a complete tool. But like leon I no longer care. All I care about is that he never plays for Everton again. I'd rather have Steven Gerrard at Everton than Rooney. At least he'd be honest about why he was there.

"Man Utd was the only club I'd have left Everton for"... behave you muppet.

Or Newcastle if they hadn't sacked their manager before the ink was dry on the offer, according to Freddie Shepard.
