Only two weeks ago I posted a positive thread on here, and I am now a bit worried. We have let too many points slip against pretty average sides in recent weeks and we need a positive result against Arsenal tomorrow.

I know the sort of response this comment will probablly get here, but I think we need a bit of a 'hard-case' player. Not a nut job Joey Barton type, but someone to kick some ar*es when it gets a bit tough.
And before anyone says Heitinga is a tough guy.. he isnt ! ( THAT wimp out tackle is my evidence, and he's not bothered anyway this season ).

When Naismith missed his late chance on Saturday, Goodison KNEW what would happen next.. We need someone on the pitch to show a bit of fire, ideally to be the Captain, but someone to be all over the Refs Etc.. A mouthpiece if you like.
Neville cannot lead by example anymore on the pitch ( on the training pitch, Im sure he is the model pro ) but on the pitch he isnt leading the team.

needed one in the summer window but i think got distracted by Ofoe who i think is a more forward looking player..... weren't we mentioned with a load of defensive CM's at the vinegar strokes of the window?
 

It's a concern when you think that Neville is considered to be our 'hard-case' player. I'd also go as far as saying that we a crying out for a no-nonsense defender who would make opposition forwards think twice about taking on the Everton defence. You're right about Heitinga - the biggest bluff merchant in a blue shirt since the last faux-hardman, Gravesen.
We've got some very, very talented players at the moment but unfortunately a bit too powder-puff for my liking.
 
We need a centre mid, dont know about needing a hard case, its looks like Moyes is not going to play Felli deeper no matter how bare we are there so we need to either reinforce that area, or actually show some faith in Barkley. Though even when Felli does play AM, he is still such a physical presence and good athlete that its alot easier for the two CM's behind him. Not really convinced signing someone who shaves his head, gets a couple of snide tats and makes a few slideys is the answer to our prayers.

If Moyes plays Barkley at CM while playing Fellaini behind the striker i'll honestly cry.
