We need the run-in atmosphere from last season for the Wolves game

The board that sanctioned multiple signings, brought in a fan favorite manager, and a DoF with prem experience? That the board you’re complaining about? The issues this season don’t lie with the board and the group of players is the highest quality group the club has had in decades. The team is playing well below the sum of its parts and that usually leads to one conclusion.
So you think it's not the board's fault because they appointed the manager. You think it's actually the manager's fault. The one that the board appointed. Am I following this right?

So are you saying that a manager can't be considered at all responsible because the board appointed them to the position? It doesn't matter what they do, because someone else gave them the job?

Don't forget the pressure put on the board to appoint lampard by the supporters by the way.

Nothing about this post is right.

No i'm not saying that, obviously. I'm saying that the board can't be absolved of all blame if they're the ones who appointed the manager who is supposedly at fault in the first place. It's their responsibility to make good decisions for the benefit of the club, if this one was such a bad a decision that it needs to be reversed within 9 months of making it (for the second consecutive time) then it would appear that they may not be doing such a good job of that. A competent board would not be swayed by fan pressure on something as fundamental as a managerial appointment, but there wasn't really pressure to appoint Lampard anyway. There was a backlash about the possibility of appointing a washed up mercenary manager with no experience in any of the top 5 leagues, but nobody particularly wanted Lampard. He was just viewed as the least worst of the 2 terrible options we were given.

This is largely the manager that the supporters wanted by a very large margin and the board selected him even though a more qualified manager was linked. I definitely believe Frank was brought in to save face but he’s not a good enough manager to get more out of the team and move us up the table despite a very good transfers window.

Might not fit you specifically but you can’t march around Goodison asking for change, getting the change you want, make the signings we need, and then blame the board for the change when the results don’t come from it (which applies to a large majority of fans out there). What happens in the boardroom doesn’t effect what happens on the pitch as much as some would like to believe and what could be changed was.

The six week break might be good for us all and hopefully the players come back ready to kick on. We need the place hopping and maybe a win can kickstart our season with some new signings added early in the window…

Nah you’re miles out on this mate. The board is incompetent, there is more than enough evidence of that.

Nobody really wanted lampard, they just wanted him more than pereira (who isn’t really more qualified, having never managed a top league and having had his biggest job 8 years ago) it was Hobson’s choice. And did we really have a good window? I thought people were fools for thinking that at the time, I’m not sure there’s even a word for people dense enough to still think it now.

Besides Maupay and Gana it was a great window and one of the best we’ve had in 5 years. There was a clear strategy and we did well to follow it. Still doubt Maupay was brought in to be a lone striker but here we are since DCL is as fragile as Mina.

And to say no one wanted Lampard is as delusional as you think my player comparisons are. If no one wanted him originally why are we still at 80% just from here still backing him not to be sacked. A below poor performing manager that no one wanted originally? Surely it’s time to go then

I think people looked at his record and it wasnt really that impressive.

As above, I think people were glad he wasnt VP or Benitez.

I really hope he sees out this current run, would be great, cos I do really like him, but concerns I had last season have only been amplified this season.

Im always concerned with what comes next, for me, anything after Carlo is a huge downgrade, I think we peaked at that point, manager wise, yes, in the end he did worse than most who had gone before him, but he was Carlo Ancelotti mate.

A few wins, either under Frank or the fella who comes after him will restart the hope machine or maybe I will have to wait till next Summer, I will believe again, cos without hope....... But currently, I see no way we ever become anything more than we are and we all know what we are.

Said it before and possibly in another thread but Frank is great with his staff and players he’s just not a manager. He possibly has a future as a DoF somewhere

Nothing will save Everton this time around. Sacking Lampard pronto would give us a 10% chance.
