We need to talk about woman and football

…I think some of the female footy summarises knock spots off the blokes. Saw ‘Izzy’ Christiansen on a game recently with Jamie Redknapp and she was miles better than him.
It's hardly surprising is it, sick note Redknapp was rarely on the pitch as a player and has been stinking out the gaff with his insights for years.

Perhaps as the barrier to entry is presumably harder, the female pundits have to actually know quite a bit about the game. The male counterparts have largely been employed based playing for the RS or England a few times.

I'm all for female pundits for the male game. Hopefully the cull that saw the likes of lawrenson and sourness put out to pasture continues too

On a more controversial note, it's more irritating that there isn't a safe male space anymore for anything. You used to be able to go to the pub or social to escape the opposite sex, now they have infiltrated everything.

And if you try reciprocate and say hang around in an all female environment, like a beach volleyball or synchronised swimming changing room they get all upset and call the police... :hayee:
100% this.

McCoist is on comms, and for that I am thankful, a sense of humour makes up for a deficit here or there, not that that's an accusation, knows his football, played to a high enough standard, loves the game, isn't banal. Atmosphere at this game is good, great to hear the crowd so engaged from the off.
Can't disagree with that edit.

Damn it! 🤣

Football is for everyone, but I want to hear from pundits who have played at the level of the game that they are offering punditry on. Like it or not, women's football isn't that level.
I get your point and partially agree, but you dont need to have played the game at that level to understand the game, I have friends, male and female, who understand the game very well and haven't played at any level so not arsed about female pundits per se.

What I dont want to hear is the faux association, for example, "when I played at man united (women's) it was like..." then tries to give a similar experience as the top flight mens game in front of 60k fans- that isnt the same. Tell me about the game you can see in front of you and use your knowledge to explain the point. It would be like Arsene Wenger telling us about his (very below average) playing days; they aren't comparable to the top flight but arsene can talk to us about what he understands about football, that should be the same for the other pundits.

I also vote for no comms on matches.

He is easily one of the best, a banter era legend

True this, how many times have you been sat at home watching a game and something so blatantly obvious stands out, you point it out to your mrs or whoever is there with you, and then a few seconds later the commentators say exactly the same thing you’ve just sad sat on your sofa …. My mrs keeps saying “you should go there as you say stuff before them” … can’t figure out if I’m super football savvy or if I’m a poor commentator

At least you know she's listening, so you've got your warning....

Are you and Andy Townsend on the same wavelength?
