Before anyone flags this up as self-indulgence, this thread can be for anyone who is trying to lose weight, I know someone who is, and I am another. Anyone else, feel free to join in.
I weigh 14st 7lbs. i'm well ashamed as I am just not doing anything at all about it.
I keep telling myself I will but never do it. Tomorrow I am going to the gym after work, and again the next day and so on.
I'm aiming to get below 14st by next Sunday.
Anyone else doing the same?
I've never been fat as in the common perception, but recently I decided to lose some weight as I was putting a bit on around the middle and was getting a bit top heavy.
I've lost nearly 2 stone in about 6-9 weeks and it was pretty easy if I'm honest.
Read about how I did it in my new book available in all good book shops priced just £25.
Seriously, I have, and here's how:
Tea:
I would drink about 10 cups per day if at the pc.
That's 10 x 1 spoon of sugar ( more for others ).
I changed to sweeener, and couldn't tell much difference.
Cakes / biscuits:
While at the pc, above me is a food cupboard, and I would eat biscuits and cakes regularly. I stopped doing this, and started to look at calories in everything I ate.
Food in general:
I knocked the cheese pasties etc on the head, and figured that if a mans normal calorie intake was about 2500 daily, I would have to nearly half that if I was to lose weight.
I bought fresh grapefruit juice.
Non fat yogurts, which were really nice, and ate salads with baked ( microwaved ) potato, fish, fresh fruit, etc etc.
I cut out crisps, biscuits, cakes, chocolate, cheese, pastries, and cut down on bread, and generally ae smaller portions for meals. Yes, the food was a bit boring, but I still ate normal meals as well etc, but just a bit less.
Beer: Not touched it for 6 weeks, with only about 2 occasions where I've drunk a bottle, or a pint with a meal.
I lost over 1 stone in the first 2 weeks simply from watching calories.
You'll be surprised how many calories are in things like mints etc.
Exercise:
I borrowed some dumbells, and did a few exercises every day ( nothing major ). Basic Bicep, Tricep, pull ups.
Exercise bike: I bought a bike (£20) off Ebay and did about 10 minutes ( 50 cals ) every day to start. My particular bike has arms too. The bike is good for cardiovascular work out.
Press ups: Starting on my knees, I started to do 50 building to 100 press ups each day. This protects the back, and gives the upper body time to strengthen up. After 1 week, they were easy.
Situps: You don't have to bring your head to your knees to do situps. Raising the upper body slightly just to crunch the stomach muscles works much better, or you can raise the legs instead.
I have a situp frame which helps, but not necessary.
Stepper: You can get these on Ebay for a quid, as they're out of fashion. Mine cost 1p ( with a rowing machine thrown in ).
I use it differently to the birds, and keep legs together, whilst pushing and pulling on the bars. This gives a good upper body workout, and if you sit down on the center bar, you can do pull ups too.
I work out for between 30 minutes to 1 hour every other day. This gives your muscles time to heal and develop.
While I'm working out, I can eat fairly normally.
It took about 2 weeks for my arms to harden up, and about 5-6 weeks for me to be able to tell a noticeable difference in the mirror. After 8-9 weeks, I feel fairly strong again, and have only a little fat to lose around my stomach, but the buldge / beer belly has pretty much gone. I've gone from XL to medium/large cloth sizes, so if you're a fashion freak, this can be expensive. If you're an Asda man like me, then no problem lol.
I have a sit down job, and could probably have lost the weight much quicker if I had wanted to. Bare in mind that losing weight dehydrates you, as your body is 70% water, so remember to drink water.
