Seen a lot of people online suggesting that he's a mad choice considering that he 'was never great at taking set pieces himself'..

Whether coaches were actually any good at the thing they're teaching themselves doesn't make that much a difference, surely? just like how you see plenty of managers out there who played at a very high level in the game not really transferring that. We've been managed by two such cases ourselves in recent years..

He's obviously been working on his coaching chops ever since he retired from playing, so if he's been identified as having a particular set of credentials to his name (in this case, set pieces) then fair play - give him a go. The way I see it, the more that this lot get coached across all aspects of the game, the better.

I read that first as working on his PORK CHOPS mate, first thought was yeah about twenty of them a day he's been tucking into.
