Getting sparked out by your own shadow is embarrassing

That shadow was thirty years younger than me an' I nearly 'ad 'im........

After the last couple of matches, and especially that dire lifeless performance in the Europa, it looked bad. Today, even with a 4-0 score line, we could see that we can play decent football and compete with the best. The result completely flatters Utd, and they know it. We will do OK now........

We've literally proved the exact opposite so far this season

Thats the problem. Ok. 4 nill. Would we settle for 4 nil 5 gears ago. 10 years ago. Im not happy with being ok. Ok is stoke city. Ok is wba. Ok is bournmouth. Ok is everton!!. Are we now happy with ok? This annoys me greatly!!! Ok. Slow but sure our expectations have dropped. Now we have all excuses why we cant get into the TOP 6 not to mind trying to win a title. What has happened everton???Bet some will reply" relax" " go to bed" "take a break" etc etc etc. 1 question for them. Are they happy with being ok? Expectations need to be raised. if mosh cant lead the way ... the one thing that wont change is goodison. If koeman doesnt get results he just wont last.

We're not the only club in this situation. In fact we're not the only club in the city in this predicament. They're are basically three financial power houses in this league, comprising Chelsea, city and united. Arsenal, RS and Spurs follow them. The climate of the league has moved on so much, even in the last decade. People forget Chelsea were nowhere prior to 2003. Same goes for City up until about ten years ago. Breaking the glass ceiling that is the top 6 is a monumental task.

That opening salvo sounds like I'm accepting defeat, not at all. As much as these results have stung, they've been a much needed reality check for myself and a lot of our fan base. We finally spent some money this summer, and in the grand scheme of things not that much. It was still less than those above us who'd been spending that for years. And yet some seemed to think we'd done enough for top 6 in just one transfer window. Can anyone honestly claim our best 11 is better than any of last years top 6? Not a chance in my opinion.

Expectations do need to be raised, as it's one thing to lose games but the manner of our defeats has been embarassing. The good feeling from the summer has gone. But expectations need to be realistic. We do not have the financial clout to challenge for the top 4, let alone the title. And before anyone says it, Leicester was an exception that proves the rule. If you were a player born in 1990, you'll be 27 this year, in the prime of your career. In your lifetime Everton will have won one trophy. If you're a player born in 1996, you're 21. You've never seen Everton win anything. How exactly are we supposed to get better players than what we can now without being able to pay the fees or wages? Aside from home grown lads I don't think there's anyone who dreams of joining us. Right now we seem stuck with buying the best of the teams lower than us and cast offs from teams above us. And as we've already seen those signings can be very hit or miss.

I guess the short version is.. what are your expectations? What should we expect from Everton? Unless we get some Sheikh investment or something similar then I don't see much changing. Until then we need to better use the resources we have and not waste what money we do have to spend. We need a manager with a clear vision for how he wants the team to play, not someone who tinkers every single game, stumbling around in the dark like a blind man looking for the light switch. And we need to get ourselves sorted at board level and in our off field ventures to generate more income.

A trophy this year, even the league cup, will do as well like.

Good reply in fairness. Moshiri and more so kenwright have let us down imo. Mosh came in and let it be known he was willing to invest and i mean invest not sell to buy. He would have made a profit after 3 windows if the barkley sale went tru. Thats midtable dribble . So it is rotten from the top. It is false and needs addressing. Im ranting today and could say to a lot if pisters on here i told ye so some will accept. Some will continue to believe we are on a moshiri project. So ill flip the question again. Forget about the teams above. Forget what they spend. And how good they are. The question i ask us are we progressing as a squad. The answer will be our midtable finish
