What I wanted most from this game (apart from the 3 points, obv) was a clean sheet. I reckon that'll do the lads a world of good confidence-wise. Played some nice stuff second half too, definitely a step in the right direction.

I am a bit worried about Besic in Europe though - he looks nailed on to get himself sent off at least once in the group stages.

Not in the manner in which we won. Lad behave !! Compared to our other games, that 2nd half was very pleasing considering. West brom were a bag of wet wank and it was as controlled in that 2nd half as ive seen for a while.

Martinez made the right decisions today. Atsu did not need to come on. The only thing we needed today was 3 points and a clean sheet. We got that.... superb.

Today wasnt a game to give players minutes and fart around. We made those errors in the Leicester and Arsenal game... ( coleman and Atsu )
 
A win, A clean sheet, 3 points on the board, a couple of goals to help redress the GD. Have to agree with some pointless bringing on Osman, should have tried a new boy.

Picking up too many yellows though.
 

Stones, Barry and Mirallas were all great today. Jags looked a bit more solid. Thought baines did well, he has started the season well. Mirallas and McGeady offer excellent pace wide.

It wasn't great and WBA are poor but it was a step in the right direction. Needed to get a win under our belts.

Haha must have been on the same stream as you - I was laughing at him, thinking wow those WBA fans know a lot of Everton chants if what he's saying is true!
 
It wasn't a thoroughly convincing victory, West Brom offered the three points on a plate with those mistakes (of course, Lukaku still had to smash the first in with that world-class effort), but I won't complain. A moderately peaceful afternoon, a clean sheet away from home will do us a world of good. Lukaku got his first goal so that should help his confidence get back on track again, that is if it hadn't been on it...

Slowly, but we're getting there! Now let's see what we can achieve against a strong European side.

Awful first half performance

second was a lot more crisp, quicker passing and movement. West Brom folded in on themselves after 65mins and we should have pushed to try and get 3/4 goals.

the defence and midfield didn't seem to be a unit today and a lot of second balls we weren't picking up.

Mcgeady is not my cup of tea, very sloppy in possession and awareness; however, he did come to life when he noticed west brom had given up, and he wasn't getting pressured as much on the ball. Defo an impact player.

Hopefully we can find our stride and get a nice run together
