Leon Osman needs sending to the reserves.

When a team takes a fight to us, he looks way way out of his depth, loses possession constantly and whinges that hes being fouled just because hes weak...

ANd no word of a lie, I have seen it in other games where he has played like this, he then picks up a 'knock' and limps around a while, hoping the manager will take him off and save his embarassment. Maybe even hopes the manager just thinks he was struggling with a knock.

This, with brass knobs on! Its almost painful watching Osman these days starting a game, should be nowhere near the starting 11!

Blaming one man for a lacklustre team performance. You what?

I know you cant blame one man for a poor team performance, but starting Osman these days is like starting with 10 players on the pitch! All over the pitch others are having to cover for him losing the ball in stupid areas!

Fickle!
He´ll score a screamer and be the best thing since Alan Ball next. Unfair to pick him out of a team that just did not preform last night.Though he was crap no need to go OTT. Osman is class at times and pants at others he has always been the same. As soon as Barkleys back he´ll start from the bench anyway .

Sorry Sheedy's Third, when it comes to Osman I'm definitely not fickle but its true these days and has been for eighteen months or so! He still has a role to play when he comes on with 20 mins or so to go when teams are tiring slightly and he has a bit more time and space, but starting against teams who are snapping at his ankles and "pressing" he's awful! Also as someone who watched Alan Ball in the Royal Blue shirt trust me he hasn't ever and never will be "the next best thing since Alan Ball" not even close!

We played very well first half but where awful 2nd. That appears to be the case away from home when we go in ahead (I think we have taken the lead 3 times away from home in the 1st half and failed to win any). Very similar performance to the Fulham cup match. I don't think the pitch helped with proceedings but that 2nd half was alarmingly bad. Not totally unexpected though. We have certainly played a few halves of matches as poorly (first half away to West Ham was dreadful).

Crying out for squad reinforcements, as always this time of year.

Probably our poorest performance of the season for me (2nd half, at least). Terrible lack of movement in front of our defenders was the reason for so many long balls, and Lukaku (despite the assist) isn't the best at holding the ball up top like a certain Vic did very well last night. Rom's a much different forward and, in the main, we haven't played to his strengths for several weeks.

McGeady looked good, and I'm hoping to be violently vaulted on him. Oviedo and Osman didn't offer an outlet at all, Baines hasn't been playing well recently and, as mentioned, Barry and McCarthy were a little subdued. Still, if these are the sort of performances people predicted under Martinez, where the system falls flat, a 1-1 away draw isn't so bad.

I don't think the team played well last night, I think its unfair to point the finger at individuals, for me it was a collective thing.

I thought we started quite well, Oviedo and Mirallas, were getting into some good positions and we were causing them problems. Then they got back into it and we grabbed a goal before half time.

In the second half I think we went to pieces and they could have scored a hat full, if they had someone in the team who could finish. Once West Brom got the equaliser, they looked more likely to get the winner, we were limited to set pieces really.

I suppose you could say that we just had an off night and they raised their game, because they are trying to impress the new manager. For me I think we looked tired after the first 30 minutes and their confidence grew as the game went on.

I hope we sign an attacking midfielder and a striker in this window, to give the manager more options to freshen things up.

Last night was a rare off day for the team and the manager, but that's made worse by knowing being in 4th before the derby was riding on it.

We started well enough, and for long periods of the first half it was like we were the home side, dominating possession and playing in WBA's half. However we didn't take advantage of all that possession and good play, and when we did eventually score, while not exactly against the run of play, it was a much more even contest.

Second half we should have came out flying at them pushing for a second, but as it was them bringing Vic on made a massive difference. Suddenly he ball was sticking up top for them whereas Lukaku seemed to be repelling it. I was hoping at this point we'd weather the storm but that didn't happen and Martinez should have made a change around the 60minute mark, probably bringing in McGeady for the increasingly ineffective Osman. I was also disappointed with our tactic of going long second half. I know Martinez stated this was because he wanted us to counter WBAs new pressing game, however if the ball wasn't sticking to Lukaku we should have gone back to our passing game.

Their goal eventually came after Howard attempted to start a quick counter by throwing long to Lukaku, although meaning well, it think at this point we could have done with holding onto the ball and trying to take the sting out of their growing confidence.

All in all its definitely two points dropped and a missed opportunity to go 4th. However can't see us playing that badly again this season, we're 1 point away from 4th with games against both of our direct rivals for that spot over the next couple of weeks.

With players returning from injury and new faces arriving I'm still confident we can mount a solid challenge until the end of the season

Everton went long ball for the second half last night. Thing is, it was probably the right thing to do given the state of the pitch, the high lines West Brom were playing at the front and the back, and the fact that Mirallas had been moved inside to be able to get onto stuff played over the top of their back four. Unfortunately the long balls we played from the back weren't hit long enough! They weren't long enough to go behind their back four for Mirallas or Lukaku to run on to. Instead they were being pitched right on to the heads of their back line, without them even have to stretch or scramble to get there.

The thing is we have a very hard run in and 9 draws its beginning to look like last season another maybe year - RM needs to strengthen the squad - another midfielder and forward now please Mr BK!

Finally calmed down after yesterday.

Not a performance to remember, but we didn't lose, and we're definitely still in the race for champions league.

A new signing or two and players coming back from injury could really kick us on second half of the season.
