Some weird comments on this thread about McCarthy taking stick from Hammers fans over the injury to their player.

Of course they are going to react like that.

I can think of of least three players who became hate figures at EFC after breaking some of ours.

Jimmy Case after what he did to Geoff Nulty (though to be fair we already hated Case anyway)

Brian Marwood after he broke Adrian Heath.

And of course the thug that is Stuart Pearce, who left wee Patsy laying in a heap and who effectively finished his career as a top class player as Patsy was never the same again.

James will now become a hate figure to West Ham fans the way those three became, indeed remain to this very day, hate figures to us.

I'm not arsed about them giving McCarthy stick, the thing that makes me laugh is that they're going on as if they've never had a player injured before and McCarthy should be killed by firing squad along with everyone else Everton-related.

As people have pointed out I don't recall anyone cry arsing about Eric Dier doing the same thing to Tom Cleverley.

To be fair I called Dier a shithouse at least a half dozen times on here after that game.

That said I certainly wasn't calling for a lynch mob or a 5 game retro match ban.

Yes well there was plenty of "cry arsing" when our players were cocked in the past.

And that was before keyboard warriors were given licence to say what they like about people on Twutter and the Internet.

You can bet your sweet life if Del or Ross had been left in a heap like that, rather than The Clev, the "cry arsing" on here woukd have been boundless.

I honestly don't think we'd have overreacted asking for retro 5 game bans and such.

We'd be pissed off and call the player a shithouse. We wouldn't go down the conspiracy theory road that it was all part of the Manager's plan.

The only way I could see us going down the tin foil hat road is if Stones would have been taken out by Chelsea. I actually thought that might happen. *hides tin foil hat

There's West Ham fans sending vines of Everton's "dirty tackles" to the FA, highlighting tackles he did against them last season and putting pictures of the tackle up on social media days later. One West Ham twitter page made a poll asking whether Howard Kendall's death was "amazing" or "unreal" in response to the whole issue.

I honestly reckon if Deulofeu or Barkley had been done in a challenge like that by Noble, say, people would just call him a fish eyed carthorse knobhead, or words to that effect, and gave him some abuse when he came to Goodison. West Ham are almost mobilising ground forces to perform a strategical assault on McCarthy's house.

Duh......what am I thinking off?

Lads, we have a much more recent example of one of our players being left badly injured and spending time on the sidelines as a result of what we perceived to be a malicious tackle.

When The Rat almost broke Kev in two at Goodison two or three years ago.

Our reaction was similiar to West Ham fans are reacting at the moment.

People on this forum, myself included, blackguard Suarez for all he was worth.

People were indeed sending video clips to the powers that be.

Now, that Kendall "poll" is just sick but to judge a whole fanbase on the actions of a fruitcake like that who starts such a thing and those who vote on it is wrong.

It is best to stop going to their forums and getting worked up about the rantings of total strangers.

I'm only been vaguely aware of the OTT reaction of certain WHam fans and I dare say most here would be up in arms if (for example) Ger or Rom had been sidelined by a bad tackle. Don't think our reaction would be so pathetic as to cry conspiracy and claim it was all a deliberate tactic though, especially not in the case of a team/manager who don't have a reputation or history of it. McCarthy is neither a snide nor a shithouse type of player and there's no way that tackle warrants a retrospective multi-game ban, shame as it is that such a good player as Payet has been sidelined.

It was totally different in Sewerat's case - didn't he nearly crock Distin in the same game? Just off the top of my head I could probably name at least a dozen other occasions where he set out to harm an opposing player, be it by stamping, eye gouging, studs up challenges, biting, raking, kicking in the stomach, hair pulling or whatever. Still can't fathom how that [Poor language removed] escaped the Premier League without a single red card to his name. :red:

And yeah, hate the tedium of international breaks. Not even sure what international fixtures are being played and certainly not arsed. :coffee:

In some cases there's a very fine line between a good (clean) tackle and a bad tackle. I didn't think McCarthy's tackle was good, but
a commentator on my coverage was scathing and highlighted the impact of his right leg following through. I honestly couldn't see any real contact and my description of the tackle is 'untidy'. I think the injury may have been caused by a twist, rather than boot contact. I could be wrong.

I don't like sliding tackles and I've been saying so for a long time. Very few players are any good at it and I don't see why they don't stay on
their feet and just put their foot in hard at the ball. It won't always be effective but it will be more often than when they go to ground, and there'll
be far fewer fouls, cards waved, and injuries.
