Husker Du from the same era and The Hold Steady from later are my other favourite Minnesota bands.

Me and my girlfriend cycled from Belgium to London to see them back in April. 17th time I've seen the Steady. Can't wait for the new stuff.

I have never got Hold Steady, I've tried a few times. Same with Drive By Truckers.

This band are right up there with the Weezers and Joyce Manors of this world for choruses and pure melody.

Truckers are another one of my favourite bands, but they are an acquired taste. I think you have to research the stories behind the songs a bit to really get them.
