I'm always a bit of a sucker for a good 5.1 surround mix, and SW's own albums have some of the best examples I've ever heard. The Blu-ray audio of this new one comes with a Dolby Atmos track, which is really nice to have in addition to the 5.1 & stereo mixes. The surround mixes he's done for other bands are also really good.
He's great live, too - took my son to see him at one of the Albert Hall shows a few years back - luckily on the night they ended up using for the live album!
Loads of Morrissey in his vocals here.
Quite possibly the most consistently great band over the past 10 years.
I see one of my docs yesterday and she starts telling me I need more B vitamins and folic acid. I wind up telling her about these guys. When I explained that the organ is called a Hammond B3 she fell out of her chair. Win win. Whatta band.
Was just relistening to Spiderland for the first time again in a long while. Still holds up quite a bit. I hear a lot of Velvet Underground in some songs.

Great album, and one that has been treated pretty unfairly for much of its life. I can see why people say it's a poor man's Sgt Pepper, but the reasons are mostly superficial (the timing, the sleeve, etc). It's got so much interesting stuff on it, and I know I played it long after I'd stopped spinning Sgt Pepper. Quite envious of your original 1967 vinyl!
